Neuter - Blood work So it's Brewie's big day tomorrow! Neuter & 4 baby teeth out. i was reading some threads about pre-op blood work, and the importance of it. My vet didn't even mention this as an option! We had him in there for blood work/bile testing done about 3 1/2 months ago because he was having blood sugar issues, and we wanted to clear anything medically wrong with him. Everything then came back perfect (other then a bit low on sodium). Is that a current enough medical picture?

| How old is he now? My vet retests bloodwork in 30 days. So if I'm planning a procedure, I need to get it done in the month the BW was done, or repeat it.

Well i'm glad i asked! They are able to run some bloodwork at the office tomorrow morning before the sugery. She said that it wasn't absolutely necessary, but it's a really good idea. $60-$80 so that's not too bad. it will also help to ease my mind a bit. i'd NEVER forgive myself if i didn't take the proper precautions and paid the price.

*update* Just wanted to update that Brew had his pre-op blood tested this morning. Everything checked out well and they were able to go ahead with the surgery. He had 3 baby teeth removed, nails trimmed, neutered and tattooed!! phew! i think its the anesthesia that is the hard thing on them, so i'm glad to get all of that out of the way. They are keeping him overnight for recovery which isn't my idea of a good time. But i'm sure he will get more rest without me poking away at him. My hubby is taking me out to a dinner and movie tonight after work! we're kidless of course i miss him like crazy, but it's all for the better good.

My 5 1/2 month old baby boy Timmy was neutered yesterday. I took him to the Vet at 8 am and picked him up at 3:30. He was super quiet and groggy when he got home. I have a ecollar for him but haven't had to put it on him. He has not tried to lick or scratch I could tell he was sore and he didn't want to eat last night. Today he has eaten and follows me every where I go today wanting to lye by me. He seems depressed and doesn't want to play, just rest. I'm sure the anesthesia makes him feel like he ha a hangover - that's how I felt after anesthesia.
