I'm a Yorkie newbie. I just got a 1.5 year old Yorkie girl a few days ago. She was given up to a rescue by her breeder right after she turned 1 because she has luxating patella. She is around 4.5 lbs (a little under), but I need to get my digital scale our to accurately weigh her. She was a real timid girl and afraid of everything so the rescue kept her in foster for about 3 months before trying to find her a home. She didn't like anybody who applied to adopt her, and she would even sometimes bark her head off at people. I came to meet her, and she was wary at first, but she didn't bark. She just stood near her foster mom for about 10-15 minutes and looked at me. The foster started telling me again about how much this Yorkie didn't like anybody, and she would bark and/or run away from people, and at that moment my Yorkie came right over to me with no prompting and leaned up against my arm (I was laying on the floor). She wouldn't move from there for at least 10 minutes. The foster was amazed. I visited my Yorkie a few times over a couple of months before she was able to come home. The holidays got in the way and made the process a little longer than it should have been. I'm just learning about Yorkies. I've had different kinds of dogs in the past, but I've never had a Yorkie. My little girl has a little Chihuahua so we know about tiny dogs. The two dogs are getting along well so far. What color is my Yorkie? I just learned that they can be different colors. I am planning on letting her hair grow out long or at least longer than what it is right now. http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2677.jpg http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2676.jpg http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2659.jpg http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2657.jpg http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2653.jpg

Thanks. Oops. I forgot to add her name. Her name is Sparrow. She started off as Tinkerbell at her breeder's house, then Gina at the rescue, and now she is Sparrow. I like Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and sparrows are tiny birds.

Thank you everybody. She is so sweet, and I couldn't have programmed her to walk over to me at any better moment than when she actually did it. I still think it's so funny how as the words, "She doesn't like anybody at all," were being said by the foster mom Sparrow started walking over to me as if on cue. I am not sure what Yorkie colors actually look like so I don't know the difference in blue and tan, black and tan, and gun metal grey and tan. They seem similar to me unless a Yorkie is very dark or very light I can't tell the difference. I'll have to look up some pictures to compare her to other Yorkies.
