I hesitate to post this... but if Peek a Boo could talk, he could outcuss a drunken sailor! (He came to me knowing many, many four letter words) I tested him by using some of the words in a normal, conversational tone of voice. As soon as I say one, he hitails it off under the bed! Every time! My poor little man...:( |

Bet you tease them a lot with that one. Nice to know i'm not the only little stinker too. I like blowing gently in Brandi's face to see her reaction....she absolutely hates it but it so freakin cute. Anyway Brandi knows, "wanna go outside", 'give mommy a kiss"......my favorite because she will gently lick me on the nose and of course "wanna go eat". She responds to sounds as well. When she hears the refrigerator door open, her and the cat come running into the kitchen every single time. Even when I try to be sneaking and open it very quietly, I look down and they are both standing there expecting a treat. |
Sophie Kate knows what a "Huggy Kissy" means, you say give me a "Huggy Kissy" and she will rest her front legs on your shoulder and kiss your face. She only does that to a few people she really likes (me, the Vet, my friend Debbie). |
When Andy met the neighbors Chesepeak He went nuts. So now if I'm going outside, he gets all excited. I say " You wanna go see Bella?" and he just about jumps in my arms! He goes out and waits by the fence, the whole time scanning the neighbors yard for Bella. |
Some of the funniest things Levi has picked up on... Distinguishing between "treat" and "stick" - treat being any small treat, and stick being a long-lasting chew. He definitely knows the difference in the two words. "Trade" means he has something he's not supposed to have (like my gate key, socks, pieces of paper) and he can trade it in for a treat. This has resulted in Levi deliberately stealing things he is not allowed to have because he wants a treat. "You want to..." followed by anything: "go outside, go for a walk, play, go for a ride, go to granny's..." - anytime he hears those three key words, he perks up and tilts his head. Nothing bad follows those three words. Little stinker! :p |

With mine "Do you want..." is definately true. The funniest though is Do you want to go get the mail? We live in a townhouse in a gated community. We have alleys behind our house and there is almost no traffic in the front. Every day (sometimes multiple times) my husband asks them if they want to go get the mail. He carries them to the mailbox (right in front of our house) and sets them down while he gets the mail out. Then all three of them have a race back to the front door. It is so cute. Now when he says "Do" their ears perk up; "you" they stand up and "want" they take off for the front door barking. |
Riot knows "drop it" but only if he gets ahold of something he shouldn't have, if he has one of his toys and you tell him to drop it, he takes off running. A "steak" is any kind of treat, "night night" is going up on my bed to watch tv before going to his bed for the night When I'm leaving for for more than a few minutes, I well him I "gotta go to work" and then he knows I won't be back for a while. If I leave and don't say I'm going to work, he will sit on the mat by the door until I come back, but if he knows I'm "working" he'll be ok to play with other people, sleep, look out the window, all that. The most fun though is "stick 'em up" I'll say it with my hand pointing like a gun he will stand on his back legs with his front paws in the air! I wanted to be able to have him stick 'em up then say bang bang! and have him play dead but he's 3 now and for the life of me I can't get him to play dead |
Aww, cute mailbox story! My rottie loved getting the mail with me! She would carry the mail back to the house, super cool and cute. "Wanna go" is definitely one of those key words for any dogs I own! |
I'm enjoying everyone's answers. :) "Do you want" always gets my boys' attention too. :) |

This one is right up there with the fake potty to get a treat:D. Brandi had been fooled for the longest time with the fake potty to get a treat. Stupid me.....I actually thought she was really pottying. :p They are so freakin smart. |
Uh-oh! That is how I trained Kacee to not potty where she wasn't supposed to go. Now everytime I say that word her head swivels and she looks me straight in the face. It's hilarious!:D OK. OK means yes!:p |
If I say "Do you...." I immediately have her attention. She's almost always waiting for me to say "wanna go with me" or "go to grandma's house". She gives me the guilt trip if I don't ask her. If I'm grabbing keys, coat, shoes, etc. I'll look down & she's sitting pretty, giving me puppy dog eyes! It kills me! Sometimes I don't ask her til she does it just so I can see it.:p Otherwise I say "you must wait, mommy be back" and she'll reluctantly stop "asking". She also knows "Mommy fix your hair" & will try to jump on the bathroom counter...or coffee table to get a top knot. Same goes for her harness. My fave thing she knows is "come here, mommy help you". This is if she's ever hurt, snagged, scared, cold, etc. She completely stops freaking out & let's me calm her, plus it gives me a chilled dog to try to fix the problem. |
