This is a Grooming Question, but... 1 Attachment(s) It seems more people go to the General Discussion threads than the grooming ones. This is Brutus, he has been groomed once and it was a nightmare as he ended up looking like a rodent. I have a mobile groomer coming on Monday and I want to keep his body hair med. length but am concerned about the hair around his eyes. As you can see it looks like he has huge eyebrows and I love to see his little eyes. I guess his hair is in the "in-between" stage? Not long enough to pull back and topnot and is now to long? Suggestions on cuts, especially on the face? |
I always do a close cut around the eyes, and leave the top parts long to go in a top knot be back in a second I'll go see if I can find a pic of Harley's face. |
1 Attachment(s) Ok this isn't a great pic of his face (only one I had cropped small enough), but if you look at his eyes, it's all trimmed short there, and the rest is pulled long into a bow. |
Thanks! I would love to show the groomer some pic's of what we want. |

Your baby is a little cutie!! |
You might be happier letting the hair grow out, some of it will go towards his mustach, and some will go up into his topknot. Petsilk topknot gel is made for this and it helps while you are growing the hair out. Some people say that they use vaseline, but I like the topknot gel better. If you keep it clipped, you might have to clip it weekly to really keep it out of his eyes. |

The mustache is an issue as well as I feel like I am pulling his hair out of his mouth and am not sure if he likes it either (I wouldn't). I was thinking of a body longer version of Brit's Jackson. His little face looks like such a guy and as much as I want a topnot, I don't know if this will go over well with the DH or Brutey. |

Oh my, no I didn't enlarge the pic to see the inverted "v", just thought - wow, what an identical twin we have! But now that I saw it, I totally understand what you mean - and thank you so much I do think that will make a huge difference. |

2 Attachment(s) Awww, he reminds me a lot of Jackson actually! I think Jackson's face cut would go nice on him. The first photo was when it was a bit longer, and I usually cut it at this point. I guess it's about Brutus' length. You can see in the second photo, how it's trimmed when he first gets a haircut. I never let those eye hairs grow out, never thought about since I don't do a topknot, I am not exactly sure where that hair would GO if I let it grow out?? I will say it grows sooo fast and I prefer them not to be poking him in his eye. So sometimes I trim in between groomings. |

1 Attachment(s) Here is my baby, Max. I keep the hair around his eyes short. I just don't think we have the patience to grow it out, plus I love when he gets it cut. I can see his sweet eyes. His eyebrows are just about long enough to fit in the topknot. I generally don't grow his face longer than this. I just had the groomer cut a fairly long beard off and I think he looks cuter with the shorter face. Actually in this photo his chin hair is a little too short, but it has since grown about an inch. The top knot hair looks long? I love that cut, but don't know if I can get through this in between stage - ugh. When Brutey is all fuzzy, I love it, but I can't see his eyes. That was the ONLY thing I liked about his rodent cut - his little eyes looked like M & M's instead of little black slits. |
I hate to sound stupid, but I am when it comes to grooming - here goes - what is the difference between a Top Knot and a Ninja Knot besides the fact that one sound more boyish than the other? |

I love our mobile groomer. We had one bad haircut, but otherwise she's always done a really good job. I liked her recent cut she did for Xmas. I know what you mean about personality thing... with Jackson's personality, I just couldn't see him with longer hair and a topknot! It simply wouldn't fit him! He seriously ALL boy and such a mans dog! haha. This was another photo I saved of another YT members dog who I liked the cuts off... actually the 2nd pic, she had given her groomer a pic of Jackson and this is what came out! The last was a petfinder dog! |

This will be Bruteys second grooming - how do you like the mobile grooming compared to a regular groomer? The mobile groomer I scheduled was from a referral that has 3 large dogs - so I can imagine how this helps her out. I scheduled to be more personable since our first grooming didn't go so well. |
I recommend the puppy cut or the long coat if you are showing your dog. |

Oh - I have a beautiful little mixed (Yorkie-Pom) baby, so he is just my guy, my pet, and my companion -not show quality in the breeder world. In my world he is a 5 star. |

1 Attachment(s) Here's Max in one of his manbows. We have cars, dump trucks, footballs, skulls. Bowbiz has an incredible selection of boy bows that are so adorable. I also tell him he's wearing a ninja knot ;) Attachment 359753 |
