| ![]() But then again maybe not... Sunny is gonna go for her first groom. Does one think about what you want your Yorkie to look like down the road? Do I start pondering what I want to grow our and what I want to keep short? Told ya it maybe a stupid question! Ha! Bobbi

| ![]() No such thing as a stupid ?... Yes... you need to decide if you are going to want to keep them in full coat, or which cut you may be planning on.

| ![]() Usually the first time around they just do a little trim around the essential areas (eyes, paws, butt) so you really don't have to think about what you want in the future...except if you want the ears to stand up, just tell them that and they'll tip them. Also, since she's a girl, if you want her to have a top knot, just tell them you are growing that out. Most of the groomers I talked to in my area don't do a full groom on a dog that little. Geno just got his first groom a little over 6 months old. If you look in the grooming section of the forum, there should be a thread there with pictures on some cuts. You can always take in a picture if you don't feel comfortable describing what you want.

| ![]() That's not a stupid question. I don't even have my puppy yet and I am already whether to have her coat long or a puppy cut. I think it depends . Are you plannning to show your puppy? Show dogs must have a long coat. From what I am learnng the long coat takes a lot of work and you must wrap it. Although all coats need grooming, the puppy cut looks easier to maintain between grooming. But I think its up to what you want. |

| ![]() One deciding factor that We found is, Time. If You dont have the time to maintain a full coat, it will show. With todays Family life putting more and more demands on Your time, We've found that a Puppy Cut is so much easier on all of Us. If You have the time and desire to maintain a full coat, it looks wonderful! |

| ![]() From what I've read here, it seems the big thing to consider is the topknot. If you want to put the hair between her eyes in the topknot, don't have that trimmed. I guess that's a pain to grow out. We always keep Snoopy in a puppy cut, but for Sally I want a topknot, but I think I'll still have that hair trimmed. Not sure yet. Good luck!

| ![]() Thanks for the replies..yes, time is a key element for me...so puppy cut is most likely the route I will go. BUT, she will have a top knot..so her hair will be kept a little longer on her head...gotta have the bows and such! She is, after all, a girl! Though she is oooh so the tomboy! Mud puddles are her favorite toy!! She sooooo loves getting dirty, but she doesn't mind a bath or shower! One poster said she waited til her baby was 6 months...dont know if I can wait that long, her hair is growing really fast and she looks scruffy most of the time....clean fur, but just soooo scruffy! Though she doesnt care at all what she looks like, its Momma that cares! Bobbi
