| What to do as it gets colder Our Dexter is pretty much potty trained to go outside in a small petco fence. As it gets colder, rainy and snow we were thinking of putting the fence in the garage with pee pads. Any suggestions? PS we are walking him with a harness, but he does not know what to do yet. |

| That will work.... I've put up beach umbrellas during the rainy season, lol... and when it snows I clear an area for them to potty in. Since we got a covered deck added on, I put peepads out there for them to use in bad weather.

| Has Dexter used pee pads before? If not you might try buying some of the liquid house breaking aid they sell to put on the pee pads. It's supposed to help attract the dog to pee where you put it. Most paper pee pads already have some sort of attractant already on them but the addition of the liquid may help a bit more. I think the garage is a good idea for you and Dexter. You both will have shelter from the harsh weather. I used to shovel snow from an area for my Shih Tzu but he had a thick coat and the cold did not really bother him. Many Yorkies get cold more easily than other dogs due to the lack of undercoat. |

| Jackson just goes outside... rain, snow, or shine. He doesn't really like the rain but he deals. It wouldn't be a bad idea to train him to the garage or something though... During BIG storms like the hurricane and the blizzard we had would have been nice to let him in a sheltered place. But he's very picky about where he goes. And those big storms only happen every so often so we've always just dealt with it. He did go in our outdoor screened in porch during the blizzard because we had about 2 feet of snow on it so I guess it was just like going outside! LOL. And it was like 4ft tall snow so a little hard to even walk... I am thinking about trying to make something this winter for the porch on those really cold nights when I don't feel like walking out there but I dunno.

| Callie is trained 100% to go potty outside and boy sometimes I really wish I could get her to go on a pad. She goes out rain, snow, wind, and cold. She has a doggy door and normally goes outside on her own and comes back in when she is done. Well sense she has had her LP surgery I have had to take her out on a leash. I think the worst was yesterday when it was raining hard and windy she had a raincoat on and stayed dry but my umbrella did nothing for me lol. When we had a hurricane I had to take her out during that. So if yours will use pads go for it.

| Chewie is also 100% outside. I clear a patch for him when it snows. Short periods of cold and wet don't bother him too much, although we've had such unseasonably nice weather lately, I'm afraid that both of us have forgotten what snow even is!
