When I got Taz his name was something totally different and we changed his named too. We use Tazzy since it has two syllables and later just referred to him as Taz. So the name change should work as long as you stay consistent with the new name.

Name change is fine.

Cozy was originally named Zoey but the name did not fit her- she loved to cuddle and snuggle. I currently have a golden I rescued about 2 weeks- He was named Cody but I immediately changed his name to Buddy he follows me none stop and thinks everyone is his friend.

New name for a new life.

I think changing it should be fine. Smokey's original name was Coby, but the lady that took him in to find him a good home, renamed him Smokey. I decided not to change it at the time because he had already been through so much trauma, but he has so many nicknames it's ridiculous and responds to each one. Mostly we call him Moke or Mokey and he responds better to that than his real name! LOL

The Yorkie on Sharpay is "BOI" (pronounced Boy)...
