| ![]() I have two adorable AKC male yorkies I'm interested in. They're the same age and price but they're both two hours away from me (in two separate directions). I know it's going to be hard to decide without knowing their personalities but I don't have a whole lot of time to travel. Please help me decide. ![]() I've attached pictures. The smallest (first picture) is expected to be 3-4 lbs full grown and the other is expected to be 6-8 lbs full grown. |

| ![]() First I would get the puppy from the breeder you feel the most comfy with and the one that you feel really cares. Second based off their weight and photos, I would choose the second one. The reason why though is because smaller yorkies tend to have more health issues sometimes and a 6-8 pound full grown dog is still a very small dog. My oldest Roscoe was suppose to be 5-6 pounds full grown and he is barely 5 pounds wet at almost a year old. My youngest Sukie is suppose to be in the same weight area possibly closer to 6 pounds though.

| ![]() Have you meet both of the breeders in person and seen the parents and where the pups have been living? I honestly think you need to meet both and the breeders before you make a decision especially such and important decision.

| ![]() You're right. I am scheduled to meet the smaller puppy and breeder on Sunday. I will have to schedule a date with the other breeder as well. I've talked to them both on the phone and they both seem very nice and have described the current living arrangements. But I do realize talking and seeing in person are two completely different things. I do like the second puppy will be a little larger. He however hasn't had any of his puppy shots. There are so many variables to consider. I have seen pictures of both mothers and just the tiny one's father.

| ![]() Providing you like the breeder - I like the first one. My Mia was only 1 pd 10 oz when I got her and she's up to 7+ pds! Infact, all my dogs broke the weight chart. lol! Please remember that even with the best breeders there are going to be the occasional large or small pups. Not all small pups are unhealthy. That fact that the second pup hasn't had all it's shots concerns me. His ears need to be trimmed and taped. To me - not a good sign.

| ![]() I'm beginning to think neither of these are a good choice for different reasons. I was just doing some research on the word "teacup". Which I realize is a bad word when you're speaking of a dog. The smallest puppy's mother was only 3 pounds and had to have a c-section. I've read that you shouldn't breed a female under 5 pounds. Looks like I'll be doing more searching. Thanks everyone!

![]() I agree with the saying that first you buy the breeder, then the puppy. Good luck to you!
