| Need to wear a blindfold... My work butts right up to Detroit, however we're located right on the border of Grosse Pointe and Detroit. Basically if I walked out of my building about 5 feet I could straddle the Detroit and Grosse Pointe line. And for those who don't know much about Michigan, Grosse Pointe is a very, very high end and rich area. With alot of beautiful historical buildings. Sadly though, it butts up to the once beautiful and great Detroit. Anyway, when I drive in I basically have to drive thru the ghetto to get to work. And, I'll admit it really gets me angry. My family is from this area, prior Detroit riots and stayed here until about the mid 70's. Anywho, I was getting off the expressway and starting to drive thru the nasty suburbs when I see this adorable littler terrier shoot out across the busy street and about 10 yards from the expressway. I paniced, so I rolled down my widows trying to call the dog over. I don't know what I was thinking, but I tried to follow the dog and he just ran off. Yup, get that mental image in your head, me in my little Chevy Aveo in the slums chasing a little dog. Anywho, I called my husband crying my eyes out. Arrived to work only to be told that it happens alot around here and to not be shocked. I'm sorry that this is a novel, but this breaks my heart. I can't take any dog being abandonded. Regardless of where I am. Don't know if I can handle seeing all these dogs with no where to go. I need to wear a blindfold when I come to work!

| Unfortunately we all need blindfolds sometimes because we cant save them all. I felt the same way the other day when we saw a cat under cars at the target parking lot. We really tried to get it to come to us but it kept running under cars where we couldnt get it. Finally we had to leave it there but we felt just awful

| I've felt this way before too It's soooo sad- it always makes me so upset if I can't do anything. One day there was a small Lab-ish looking dog running alongside a busy road. I pulled over and tried to get close but it ran straight across the three lane road! I couldn't even see where it went and I wasn't about to get into an accident over it but I was so upset all day, thinking he probably ran off and got hit by a car. Something similar happened once but near my house which is a bit more rural but a big dog ran right out in front of my car and I slammed on my breaks! Poor big dog ran off into the woods - I was hoping he belonged to someone that lives in the houses through the woods and that he would find his way back - the roads weren't too busy. Then a couple of weeks ago, I saw a dead German Shepherd on the side of the road!! God it was devastating. I did pull over to check and make sure he was dead, called AC, and they said they hadn't heard of a report about it so were thankful I called. Gosh it's just SOOO heartbreaking!! It always makes me so distraught and sad for the rest of the day and it's even harder when people you tell don't give much thought to it and don't seem to care.
