Baby food Does anyone give their babies baby food? I have Pnut on some Cosequin and I have to mix it with something- I don't like to give hin wet food bc of his allergies! I found a really good organic brand- I bought sweet potatoes- the ingredients are sweet potatoes, water and vitamin c I think it was... But no corn not flour like some of the brands I was reading. I figured it is healthier than wet food.. Thoughts? |
I don't think the baby food would hurt. Just as long as it doesn't have onion or garlic in it. If you're uneasy about the baby food, maybe you can call the vet and ask them if it's OK. |

I have used Baby Food before for med's. |
Mybe the baby food finger meat sticks would work perfectly. Course you could also buy "Pill Pockets" that are beef or chicken flavored. Most Vets. and pet shops carry these. Pill Pockets for Dogs |

I use Gerber Puffs and Yogurt Melts as treats sometimes, LOL. It's kind of funny going into the baby isle to buy things for my DOG. But he LOVES them and they are super cheap compared to dog treats, and healthier too. But as far as pills go, sticking it in a little bit of cheese always worked for me in the past (but if this is every day- you are probably not going to want to give cheese every day). We've also used Pill Poppers before with success. |

Katie Scarlett loves the puffs too! I am newer to Yorkie Mommyhood, but my first thought was yogurt. Katie Scarlett gets one little spoon of yogurt each night. She does the Chiobani Greek Yogurt in plain. Can you mix medicine with yogurt? Not sure, but just throwing it out there since it hit my mind first. I am sure an old Yorkie pro can be of more help than I though. :) |
One thing you might try is peanut butter, what better for the Pnut right? You just have to watch the amount bc it's VERY high in calories. Sprocket will do just about anything for peanut butter, LOL. If you can get him to eat it and that's the biggy, try a pill instead of the capsule, because a pill can be cut up into real small bits and hidden better for picky eaters, I know this one , I do this for Sprockets heart worm pills. Might work who knows, good luck  |
A little baby food is fine |
I use baby sweet potatoes and peas on occasion. Perfectly fine. |
Organic is great that's all I'd use but yes check the ingredients list and also the sodium content & for sugars-however if it's not daily well then I think you'd be good. Elvis get's boiled chicken stock with raw vegis for his-powder. |

It is daily, he needs his pill once a day, however I am only giving him less then a teaspoon!! |
I have read on other posts that the babyfood is fine. But you could also just use a reg sweet potato. Cook in microwave add not butter or salt. Just a little every day should be fine. Good luck, daily pills are always tricky. |

Princess eats Sweet Potato and Sweet Potato & Chicken for meds & for a special treat when needed. I use about about a tsp. & smear it around to make her think she's getting more.;) The Beech Nut chck. & pot. have "swt. pot., water & finely ground chicken". I'd bet the powder would easily be disguised in a baby food. |
I give mine baby food as well- no problems- the vet says it is fine. Check the ingredients well- many have onion or garlic and some of the fruit ones have grape juice. But otherwise its fine. |

Hi, Romeo has baby food for lunch every day. He will only eat Apples & Chicken. Gerber 2nd Foods has changed the mix of ingredients and he refuses to eat it now. However, I found Beech Nut Apples & Chicken which Romeo's taken a strong liking to. Baby food was approved by Romeo's vet so I feel 100% safe feeding this to him. |
