| ![]() I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. As far as Scooter goes, it sounds like your vet is wonderful and will take all necessary precautions. Its good that you are planning to have him neutered and teeth cleaning at the same time. If he does not have a microchip and you are considering that, you may to have that done at the same time too. I know I have to get Jack to get his teeth cleaned and I keep putting it off because I worry about him going under too, but I need to get him in and while he is getting his teethers cleaned we are going to have him chipped too. Take care and good luck to you and Mr. Scooter!

| ![]() I'm very sorry for the loss of your husband and hope you begin healing soon. The only advice I can further offer on the neuter is that you should check to see if there is someone at the vet's 24 hours, at my vets there wasn't so as soon as my dogs were altered I promptly brought them home despite my vet grumbling about it-I said unless you are going to be watching my dog around the clock checking every 15 minutes in the least which I doubt you will then my baby will be coming home. I did that with both my adopted rescue picking him up 5 hours after he was fixed (first time meeting him in person) and with my female 2 hours after she came out of surgery. Also I insisted my male had liquid band-aid put over his incision to keep any bacteria out he had dissolving stitches put in. The vet who did my females spay refuses dissolving stitches saying they can leave too much scar tissue and itch dogs more therefore she refuses use of them and also she knows people will bring their dogs back in to get them out and she can ensure there is no infection. HotRodsMom makes Kiss-E cones a soft collar cone that is a miracle for dog's recovering from such issues. I don't know how I survived without the Kiss E cone before.

| ![]() Scooter is a lucky little yorkie to have had you save him from a terrible life. It sounds like you have a great vet. I really do understand how you feel. I always make an attempt to go shopping to keep myself busy the day that Kacee gets her teeth cleaned, but I'm always so nervous that I cannot enjoy it. It is just a way to keep myself busy. I always bring her home the same day and I am usually bringing home a very sleepy yorkie. I remember when she was spayed that she was trying to jump in a couple of days. I really had to watch her closely and keep her gated away from things. Even though she has stairs to the beds, she always had a habit of going down a couple of stairs and then jumping from there!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() I'm so sorry about the loss of your husband and can definitely see how you might be scared right now about Scooter's surgery. Just a thought, but if the teeth cleaning can wait a bit, perhaps that might be better just so you aren't putting yourself through any extra stress right now. Even a couple of weeks might help you feel a little more confident things as well as giving you a little time to take care of yourself.
