| Molly's Ears While grooming the dogs this morning, I noticed a smell coming from Molly. After examining her all over I realized the smell was coming from her ears. She was just at the groomers two weeks ago so I know her ears were cleaned real good and all the hair pulled out. I got some q-tips and started cleaning her ears. The q-tip came out a rusty color. Is this blood? I noticed that she digs at her ears a lot too. I am taking her to the vet on Friday for a check up but I am wondering should I get her in there sooner? Anyone ever have this problem?

| Could be mites or a yeast infection. Yeast infections are itchy and smelly, too. I'm sure your vet can diagnose and get her on the correct med |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I'm a newbie, so do not have the best advice. I would definitely ask your vet. I noticed Katie Scarlett's ears smelled a bit funny a few weeks ago. I took her to the vet and he checked her out. She did not have ear mites, but had a bit of inflammation. He gave us some drops to use twice a day for 7-10 days. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck to you!

| Kiko had smelly itchy ears back in Feb. I took her in to the vet; she had an infection. The vet pulled hair from her ears (showed me how to do it) then put medicine in her ears (also showing me how to) and gave her a prescrition to use at home for a week. The smell and the itching cleared up really quickly. |

| The whole Ear-thing has been a problem from day 1. Max had matted down ear hairs that they plucked out while he was anesthetized for dental cleaning and baby tooth pulling. We went thru at least 4 sessions of ear infection medicine after that. He's scratching at his ears again, so will be taking him to the vet this week. Anyone have a cure of ear infections? |
