I've been keeping my eye on this little girl for about 2 months already. I am in :love: with this little girl. Gah I wish her adoption fee wasn't so high. :( I would scoop her up in a second. :D

Oh, sorry, I can't stop you or help. You played with fire and now you got burned in your heart!!! You are going to have to take her and give her a forever home and besides, knowing she is with you will keep ME from wanting her so badly since I have now suffered the same fate as you!!!

WHAT a little doll she is!!! Such a cutie pie. Looks like a dog I have seen in some movie. So cute. Seriously, cannot blame your wanting this girl. :):):)

LOL.. if I had the funds to get her I would WALK in this snow storm to bring her home. She's had my heart for some time now. :) I am always afraid to check in on her, I'm going to be heartbroken when she's not available anymore. :(

Boy, I cannot blame you there. What a doll! Looks like she is loving but full of mischief and would probably play day and night. If I were up there, I would walk with you just to get to see this one in person. She just looks special.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I have to stay away from Petfinders etc.. I could turn into one of the hording people. Every little furry face breaks my heart. I know it is the right thing to find homes for the ones I see at ASPCA, it is all I can do to to resist bringing them home with me. Sometimes I just donate the food and hurry out of there. It hurts so much to see them without a forever home !

I'm constantly thinking about getting another. Then, just two nights ago, ZoE's breeder called me cos she has a TINY little girl that will max out at 2-3lb range and she thought I could give her a good home. I was tempted, but really don't want one that small. I'd prefer the 5-6lb range. But ever since that phone call, I've gone from thinking about, thinking about getting one, to really really wanting one. Silly the things that trigger us.

She is beautiful...sorry, wish there was something I could say as I can see how much she already means to you. I too don't look at pet finder anymore it just makes me want them all! And then when one of them pulls on your heart strings like she has...oh it makes it sooooo hard. :(

Same thing happened to us. That's how we got Sidney. Our breeder emailed us a pic of Sidney and said she thought of us for her. She was small, 3.9 lb, and thought our Gidget and ourselves would be a good fit for her. Then the serious debate began. They are getting along well - no fighting. I know what you mean about the size though. I really would prefer about 6 lb, but she is a sweet little girl.

After getting our second, I would have to say if you can figure out a way to swing the adoption fee, I would go get her if I were you. She is a doll and would make such a nice sister for handsome Kaos!

I hate to be Debbie downer but if you struggle with the funds to 'purchase' or the adoption fee then you shouldn't be getting a dog right now because especially rescues have no guarentee of health, previous testing etc-you may end up with an expensive emergency health issue and that should be considered prior to adoption.

So cute! The adoption fee is pretty high, though. Have you tried contacting them? Maybe once they see you're already a responsible pet owner they'll lower it a little. I'm constantly on pet finder also. There's a little Shih Tzu named Philip that is to me what this little beauty is to you, lol. I'll be crushed when he's gone. Maybe we should both go for it. :p

I think the concern with a high adoption fee isn't so much the charge itself (although the cheaper the better) but as you said, the pet doesn't come with a guarantee and all of the things that warrant a high price tag when you purchase from a breeder. At least that's what it is for me.

Heck I volunteer with a Rescue Group and every time we get a new one in that just pulls at my heart ( they all pull at my heart, but some more than other's) I have to back away. It takes alot of will poewer to do it.

No that makes perfect sense, and I agree. :thumbup: I have the funds BUT it is my designated emergency fund for Kaos, and I wouldn't want to be irresponsible, and use that fund to simply purchase another dog. :)

There are a lot of yorkies on that site that I would adopted on that site... I love Yorkies to death and I would have a million of them if I could!! They are just so stinking cute! I can't believe that someone would have a dog and NOT pay any attention to it or take care of it, just makes me SICK!!

Look out! My second dog started with searching Petfinder! :D And then along comes Mikki. :) Wish I could tell you not to get her but my head is screaming Go get her!!!!! She would love to have you as a new mommy! And I will tell you, there is nothing better than two sweet Yorkies!! :)

I feel you! I've had my eye on a little guy on the YTNR site. His personality description would make him the absolute best match for a brother for Kaji. I would hate to check the site one day and see he was adopted. I'd be happy for him for finding a forever home, but sad it wasn't with us. :( Hang in there! Someday, we'll both afford a second addition to our pack. :D

I was actually thinking of you and mikki when I saw her. I sent an email to the rescue, letting them know I am interested. I can't afford that kind of adoption fee, but at the very least they know a loving home is always willing to take her in. I guess I will leave the rest to fate for now. :)

The money from the adoption usually goes to cover vet fees for the pup, or for another pup that is in desperate need for care. I wouldn't haggle for a lower price on the adoption fees. They have others that need that money.

I totally understand WHY it is that high, and I wouldn't try and haggle it down as other yorkies are actually in NEED of that. :)

I emailed about two different girls on Petfinder. I found one that I thought was the perfect girl for us. Come to find out she didn't get along with other females at all. Then the second one was scared of men. Well, I am the only human female here! :eek: So that didn't work out either. I put my name on a waiting list for a puppy and then Mikki fell into my lap. It was fate! She was meant to be with me! So, if this one don't work out don't give up. :)

I say go for it!!! Theres no better love than that from a rescue!! A couple years ago I had a foster. Mia! I was beating around the bush trying to deside if I wanted to keep fostering her or just adopt her.....well I ended up keeping my mouth shut and waited to long, she got adopted into a great home....but now I think about her daily and always wonder if she's being taken care of and how she's doing.

Oh really? I didn't know that. Some breeds seem to be way more expensive than others so I figured it was just them trying to make a profit. That makes it harder to resist, lol. I definitely want to adopt my next dog.

Rescue Groups NEVER MAKE A PROFIT. I just have never understood where people think that.
