So cute! The adoption fee is pretty high, though. Have you tried contacting them? Maybe once they see you're already a responsible pet owner they'll lower it a little. I'm constantly on pet finder also. There's a little Shih Tzu named Philip that is to me what this little beauty is to you, lol. I'll be crushed when he's gone. Maybe we should both go for it. :p

I think the concern with a high adoption fee isn't so much the charge itself (although the cheaper the better) but as you said, the pet doesn't come with a guarantee and all of the things that warrant a high price tag when you purchase from a breeder. At least that's what it is for me.

She sure is a cute one. I would be of no help to you on quest to make you stop. LOL

Heck I volunteer with a Rescue Group and every time we get a new one in that just pulls at my heart ( they all pull at my heart, but some more than other's) I have to back away. It takes alot of will poewer to do it.

No that makes perfect sense, and I agree. :thumbup: I have the funds BUT it is my designated emergency fund for Kaos, and I wouldn't want to be irresponsible, and use that fund to simply purchase another dog. :)

There are a lot of yorkies on that site that I would adopted on that site... I love Yorkies to death and I would have a million of them if I could!! They are just so stinking cute! I can't believe that someone would have a dog and NOT pay any attention to it or take care of it, just makes me SICK!!

Look out! My second dog started with searching Petfinder! :D And then along comes Mikki. :) Wish I could tell you not to get her but my head is screaming Go get her!!!!! She would love to have you as a new mommy! And I will tell you, there is nothing better than two sweet Yorkies!! :)

I feel you! I've had my eye on a little guy on the YTNR site. His personality description would make him the absolute best match for a brother for Kaji. I would hate to check the site one day and see he was adopted. I'd be happy for him for finding a forever home, but sad it wasn't with us. :( Hang in there! Someday, we'll both afford a second addition to our pack. :D

I was actually thinking of you and mikki when I saw her. I sent an email to the rescue, letting them know I am interested. I can't afford that kind of adoption fee, but at the very least they know a loving home is always willing to take her in. I guess I will leave the rest to fate for now. :)

The money from the adoption usually goes to cover vet fees for the pup, or for another pup that is in desperate need for care. I wouldn't haggle for a lower price on the adoption fees. They have others that need that money.

I totally understand WHY it is that high, and I wouldn't try and haggle it down as other yorkies are actually in NEED of that. :)

I emailed about two different girls on Petfinder. I found one that I thought was the perfect girl for us. Come to find out she didn't get along with other females at all. Then the second one was scared of men. Well, I am the only human female here! :eek: So that didn't work out either. I put my name on a waiting list for a puppy and then Mikki fell into my lap. It was fate! She was meant to be with me! So, if this one don't work out don't give up. :)

I say go for it!!! Theres no better love than that from a rescue!! A couple years ago I had a foster. Mia! I was beating around the bush trying to deside if I wanted to keep fostering her or just adopt her.....well I ended up keeping my mouth shut and waited to long, she got adopted into a great home....but now I think about her daily and always wonder if she's being taken care of and how she's doing.

Oh really? I didn't know that. Some breeds seem to be way more expensive than others so I figured it was just them trying to make a profit. That makes it harder to resist, lol. I definitely want to adopt my next dog.

Rescue Groups NEVER MAKE A PROFIT. I just have never understood where people think that.
