| Has anyone ever rented the Rug Doctor or Green Machine? I'd like to clean the carpets but don't want to budget in a professional cleaning if it's not needed now that we'll be (well, I) am entering the holiday season. They have the Rug Doctor at one store & most of the other stores offer the 'Green Machine' for about $25+shampoo. Are they even worth the time, labor, hassle & money? I'd like to tackle pet odors for the most part & hopefully knock down this flea issue that may or may not still be present. I know I'll have to get special enzymatic cleaners, etc. Just don't want to waste a day off if it will do no good, I can waste it on other things.

| That seems to be the newer model down here right now. I just might try it...but I just got off work so I wont think of all the prep work to actually use it right now.

| We've always used Rug Doctor and they work GREAT! In fact we actually need to rent another one. Here they cost $45 for 24 hrs but once you return it to the store you get $20 back. Well worth the price.

| Stanley Steamer just left my house less than an hour ago. My carpet is 15+ yrs old, right now it looks and smell as good as the day we got it, i have multipule dogs and with the wet weather it does not take long for it to get dirty. I had 2 bedrooms and a front room entryway and bath done in less than an hour and it is worth every penny for me to do it this way, cost me $99. I use to do it myself but this is so much easier and cleaner. Hope you find what works for you.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I rent the rug doctor regularly. It does a decent job, for the most part, if you pre-treat any spots. I'm jealous of the person who said they get part of their money back when they return it to the retailer- we don't get that here For us, it's $45 for 24 hours, plus the cost of shampoo, defoamer, pre-treater, etc. In between rentals, I have a Bissel shampooer that does an ok job. I think this year I am going to hire Stanely Steemer to come take care of things for the Holidays. I'm too tired and too busy to spend a whole day on cleaning my carpets.

| I think both machines are about $25, then shampoo was about $20 if I remember right for the pet stuff. It looks like they phased out the Rug Doctor (it's only at Big Lots now) & brought the Green Machine to the main retailers. They have coupons that I got for either half off a one day rental or get a second day for $5. I live in a complex & they had a Co. do my carpets early spring & did great. In & out in like 20 minutes, spots that were impossible to me came up in one stroke! But...they want way over $100 and I just can't do it now. I got it done before as a 'compromise' to sign a new lease, that I already planned on signing. Hoping to get a home machine this spring so I can take care of individual accidents & cut my costs in the long run.
