| Housebreaking! I think I am doing very very well with my new little pup. I have had him three weeks and he is about 3 months old. Luckily, he is a little guy who doesn't have to pee very often --for some reason. It's winter here, so we are going outside and using puppy pads in the house. He took to puppy pads right away. I take him to the pad at least once every hour and he usually uses it then -- I take him oftener if he hasn't gone for a while. Often he goes to it and uses it on his own - wonderful!!!! I found one other thing that is helping a lot. He got a new bed recently. It is in the mud room and I placed a puppy pad right beside it. He is running to and getting in and out of his bed constantly and just loves it. But, with the puppy pad right beside it --- it is the first thing he notices when he gets up and also the first thing he notices before he gets into his bed. This has really made it more accessible to him, and he is using it even more on his own. I am finding new wet spots there are the time. I personally don't care for crate training. I don't like keeping my friendly, playful, little puppy in a confined area most of the time. My little Yorkie has the run of my large house and loves running all over the place all the time. He and I are having a lot more fun, and he is certainly far more advanced and entertaining than the puppy I crate-trained was. (I did keep him with me constantly the first two weeks I had him - but now he's free to go where ever he wants.) The main purpose of my post was just to share having a puppy pad right next to the puppies bed. This is really helping a lot. Yesterday, I picked it up and it was just soaked. Good dog!!!!!! Donating YT 30K Club Member | Great! Cali is the first dog out of 5I, have crate trained. At first I was worried about keeping her in the palypen/crate. She now sleeps with me and is only in her playpen when no one is home to watch her. She is never in it more than 2-3 hours max. But she will go in on her own and take a nap so I think she doesn't mind id if she's not in in too long.

| Maggie slept in her crate until she was 5 months old. I would get up every 2 hours during the night and take her outside to PP. During the day I would take her outside every hour. After her 5 month birthday, and she was sleeping all night--she moved to my bed. Today she is 9 months old, housebroken and the love of my life. I can't picture what it would be without her. We are getting ready to take a trip to Georgia. I am already a nervous wreck, that somebody will make a mistake and let her outside. Where we will be staying, they have NO FENCE. I'm planning on clipping her leash to my belt loop.
