Please don't send him to a rescue unless you really can't financially take care of this little guy. Michigan has enough pups in rescue. And coming from a fellow Michigander, please don't do it!

Hey~sorry I haven't been on here for a bit~just busy with the Halloween season & keeping up with raking the leaves!!:O I'll get some updated pics of our little blue guy!!

We had a really bad night with him when he was around a week old~he cried for 4 hours straight & nothing would settle him!! I thought for sure we were going to lose him 'cause when he would try to nurse~he would start to suck & stop & cry!! I thought maybe he had a bowel issue or something so we called the 24hr vet (which was just a secretary) & they said there was nothing they could do~but they could call in a vet & it would cost a fortune!!ugh!!

So I looked on the net & found a puppy milk recipe that was supposed to be better than the vet kind~so I made up a batch in case I needed to help him feed!! He was crying so much~I could tell he was in pain!! So my husband & I laid our hands on him & prayed. He stopped crying & went to sleep & the next feed (at 2am) he ate like a trooper with the others!! I was up all night with them~making sure things were ok the rest of the night!!

Now~He's doing so great so far!! & is the biggest in the litter now!! He has his eyes open & is starting to walk~just so cute!! We loving call him 'baby hippo' 'cause he is so big & grey!! I still haven't decided what to do with him~I really am quite attached to all of them & know I will have a few tears when it's their time to go!!:( Still thinking about keeping him~'cause he seems so healthy~& if it's just a fur thing~I'll get him sweaters!! I just can't imagine letting him go & always wondering if he was ok?!?

Ohhhhh!!! Thx sooo much for updating!! I just can't keep the little guy out of my mind.... I'm so glad he ended up eating for you!! Prayer is a powerful thing... I should know with my little Mack!! Can't wait to see pics!! Are his eyes blue like macks??? You mentioned the high cost of taking him to the er vet... Be warned... He may have lots of high vet bills in his life!! I believe these blues must also have a low immune system (I think it's very possible Mack caught parvo even after being dully immunized because of this).... Set up a "baby hippo" vet fund.... You may need it!! I'm always here if you need anyone to talk to!!

OP Kendra really wants another puppy she can afford the medical care and has the time and knowlege to devote to a blue born especially,.

Kendra also has a vet now familiar with a blue born, if you do not keep this Hippo or are not entirely sure you can provide Hippo with not only the care he needs but the very best of care please consider Kendra.

Honestly, yes.... We are looking at another pup.... But I would take this little blue born in a heartbeat.... I just hope he gets the life he deserves, no matter how long it may be....

To the op.. plz don't just let anyone have him.... My heart hurts not knowing where he will end up....

I still have no idea how long we will have with our precious Mack, but I will do everything in my power to see that he has as long and a happy of life that he is able to have....

Hi~just updating about Hippo!! He is still doing great & went 'poo' for the first time yesterday on his own!! & they are now trying to 'bark'!! Tell me the truth~is it disturbing to love these little guys as much as children?!? I just can't help myself!!

We still haven't decided about Hippo~I desperately want to keep him~but my husband is not so convinced!! :( At least we have a few weeks to decide (or for me to convince;) )!!

I have told my neighbor about Hippo and she is thinking about it. They are in their 60's and retired & she'd like a puppy, but she just 'inherited' her MIL 's dog as she is now in a nursing home. He is a small corgi mix & is 10 yrs old. So she knows they won't have him tooooo much longer. He's a sweet little dog & gets along well with our dogs~so I'm sure he'd be ok with her getting another dog. I know she would take excellent care of him too & he'd be right next door to see everyday!! But she is still thinking about it?!?

Whatever happens~I'm for sure going to make sure it is in his best interest~especially if I give him away!! I just want him to be well taken care of!! I know you would Kendra 'cause I can see how well your little guys are taken care of & I know my neighbor would as well~UGH~but it makes me cry just thinking about saying good~bye to him!! I don't know if I can do it~I really am quite attached to this sweet little guy!! I'll get his 3 week picture on here as soon as I can!!:)

Here is Hippo trying to walk on the floor for the first time!! It was a bit tricky 'cause it was a bit slippery for him~so he wasn't on it long!! :O

I can't look at these anymore, or I'll want to take him home.
