| Yorkie puppy and Kittens I have 2 3 week old kittens that I am bottle feeding, momma disappeared. I also will have a 12 week old Yorkie puppy coming home in one week. Should I be worried, anyone else been in this situation? Thanks in advance.

| I wouldn't worry, just keep the kittens and puppy seperated until the kittens are a little bigger. My daughter and I raised two orphan kittens last fall, they were about 2 weeks old when we got them. At the time we also had a large mixed breed and a 1 yr old shih tzu. When the kittens weren't being fed or tended to we kept them in a large carrier with a heating pad. As they got older we moved them to a large dog crate, then eventually let them have a room to themselves. They also had supervised time with our dogs and other cats, my shih tzu loved to clean their faces and cuddle with them..... now that the kittens are a year old they are great with all of our dogs.

| I have been around many kitten, dog, puppy situations and I have never had a situation where a puppy hurt a kitten. At times they play amazingly rough and it gets scary, but I would imagine they would grow up to be great friends. Of course, 3 weeks is way to young for that kind of interaction, but as the kittens get a little older it will be nice to have that companionship for the puppy and will relieve some of his/her attention on getting into stuff when there is a friend to play with, even if it is a kitten. Sounds like fun. Are you keeping the kittens?

| At first I was not going to keep the kittens, but I love them and have the space enough to have them. Plus my puppy needs a playmate since her doggy one will be gone all day with his daddy. I have another dog, a very large Beagle named Shiloh, but he's great with kittens so I am not worried about him, my puppy does not really play too rough. Might be because she was the only puppy in the litter.
