| 6 year old Yorkie hates new 4 month old lab addition Hi guys! I havent posted in awhile, but here is the story. My 6 year old Yorkie has always been less of a dog dog and more of a people dog. We recently had our 14 year old male lab pass away. They didn't often play, but were perfectly fine together. Tonight we brought home a very playful 4 month old male lab and Ollie got very defensive, barked, bared teeth and even bit the new puppy (who of course just keeps playing). Any suggestions would be very helpful! I'm afraid my anti social Yorkie is going to make our lab a dog hater haha. Please, please help!

| I can tell you that when I added my second female the first few days were rough! I almost thought I had made a huge mistake. Rosie was never an aggressive dog. She was very spoiled and yes, she thought she was human. She growled, barked, and tried her best to get a Mikki for days. It finally settled down once Rosie showed Mikki that she was the dominant female. With time and patience, I am sure that you will be able to work it out. I do suggest that both are fixed. Getting Mikki spayed helped a lot. And I also followed advice of others here and tended to Rosie first as she was used to it. So many on here helped me through the transition.l I am sure they will jump in here and help you as well. Good luck to you and your new addition!!

| Thank you. Yes, I feel like once Ollie shows he is dominant he will leave the puppy alone if the puppy doesn't try to play with him... Which makes me sad because I wish they could be friends. Ollie loved all dogs until he was attacked by a huskie and since then he is very fearful and aggressive when any dog gets too close.

| I hope so! Oliver has continued to snarl and the new black lab puppy continues to try to pounce, which makes it worse. We need to teach the new puppy to be gentle and teach Oliver to be more tolerant. Yikes! Haha

| You really need to give it time. If it were me, I would keep the new puppy away from Oliver for awhile, always supervise when they are together and let Oliver know he is still the man. Don't try to force the relationship, it will grow eventually. A four month old puppy is extremely exhuberant and can really irritate an adult dog, especially when it is infinging on the first dogs territory.
