| Princess is notorious for this & it started as a pup. I've heard it's to cool their paws since they sweat from their pads, which sounds right. But she has learned to do it when she's mad if I'm ignoring her. She'll dig up the entire bowl while glaring at me. If I still don't respond she'll knock it over. My parents have a deeper bowl for bigger dogs & she only drinks out of it with her front paws in it at the same time. But she's usually pretty worked up there running around. So there's a couple of possible reasons from our end.

| haha, we had a pitbull with us who would do this for fun. she would take a drink from her "deep dish" then stick her face as deep as should could, then back up stick her butt in the air and start playing with the bowl like it was another dog lol of course it always ended up knocked over. |

| Allie does this. We call it snorkeling. For entertainment purposes, add some ice cubes lol.

So, my answer was going to be that your little one's doing it because it's fun! Probably the wrong answer though. | |

| I know it probably is messy but it really sounds cute . During the warm months if we take Callie to the dog park she gets hot and will climb in the water bucket and just stand in there looking around like why is everyone looking at me and laughing its hot I'm just trying to cool down.
