| Something I have been wondering is why yorkies are in the toy group rather than the terrier group? Cairn terriers are small dogs too and they are in the terrier group.

| I think it's because they don't actively use their terrier skills anymore, they are in the toy group because of their small size and use for companionship is what I heard

| Chinese Crested I used to groom two Crested..both retired champions living in a pet home. The skin gave me the willies..unfortunately they can get white heads just like people..the owner put sun screen on them, but they still got liver spots..I am such a Yorkie snob, sorry. I thought the Yorkie was very pretty and maybe in another year it will have enough coat to win in the Group...it has got to drag the floor like that Maltese..JMO. |

| Those pics of the Chinese Crested are too cute! I had never seen the long haired one before!! My Mom thinks they are the ugliest things...I think they are pretty in an unusual way...I think I like them because they look different My favorite is the one with no hair on it's back and fluff around the face. I wonder what it feels like??? My heart is with the Yorkies though I didn't know that the coat had to drag the floor for showing! That Yorkie sure was beautiful!

| Coat A Yorkie coat doesn't have to drag the floor for it to win..but watch the coated breeds that win the Group..the Maltese was in better show coat..it was longer and the facial furnishings were longer. The Yorkie looked young to me..who was it?? Noticed the European Yorkies who are winning the World class shows..their coats are so much longer and very thick silk.. IMO and only MO, the Yorkie was not in enough coat for a group win. |

| You know, I watch the dog shows with an untrained eye, but now that I think about it...I remember, a few years back I think, a yorkie that won and it was an older looking Yorkie with a more substantial coat, like the Maltese had!! Yorkierose, your opinion has lots of clout around here!!!
