| Out of the Blue My rescue pup Fergie has been doing great (outside her scratching problem). No accidents in the house, been doing good and then actually scratching at the door herself for the first time yesterday (which my other dogs do themselves). However, after three weeks of being perfect and going in the grass, she decided this weekend to start going on the patio and will not go into the grass any longer. I've gone outside with her and placed her in the grass. I've used NO when she starts to go in the wrong place. Granted it's outside but there is a whole yard of grass she can use anywhere and she chooses right on the concrete. She's doing this on her own as she's used the grass before and my other dog's always use the grass so it's not a copycat thing. Any suggestions on what might be causing this and how to get her back in the grass? |

| Sissy will use the patio when the grass is too long. She doesn't like her butt tickled when she squats.

| We have a green plastic like mat on the deck that is pretty old and Callie started peeing on that months ago she would still go into the grass to go poo and sometimes after she went pee she would go walk around the grass. We have no idea why she does it but because its a deck we just let her and every week or so my grandpa hoses it off. Is it bad weather, wet, long grass or anything when she is doing this?

| Roxy does the same thing kind of. She uses the driveway. She will jump off the deck/porch if she needs to go to the bathroom and then barks at the back door our deck stairs- she fits through the rails. I have the porch gated off since the yard is not fenced so I can put them out a not have to be right there. She doesn't like the grass to be cold, too long, just cut, etc. I figure as long as it is outside I will pick my battles.

| By just letting her out, in a way you are saying 'pick a place'. If you want her to use only the grass, put her on a leash and take her to the right spot. You may have to do this for a few days to reteach her where to go. At first she was going where the other dogs taught her. Now she feels safer and more secure she is picking her own location. Don't feel bad about reteaching her to use the grass. She will be fine with a new place.
