Stranger photographing your dog Yesterday I had the strangest experience while waiting for the school bus to bring the kids home. A random person at the bus stop started taking pictures of Norman. Not just one picture but A LOT of pictures. It was weird. He didn't speak English, and he didn't even acknowledge that I was holding the lease, so I have no idea what it was all about ~ but it made me really uncomfortable. Even the kids were asking why he was doing it. Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them? What did you do? |
no, weird. |
I have had random people at every festival I've been to this summer ASK if they could take a photo(s) of ZoE. Some had never seen a dog in a doggie stroller before and wanted her pic, others liked what she was wearing at the time...like at our most recent Scottish Festival where she was wearing a custom made tartan harness with matching leash and tartan ribbon bow...everyone we saw seemed to go nuts over that. But, I've never had anyone try to take photos without asking...that would be really strange & very rude! |
I've never had anyone take pictures of my girls without asking and they mostly take pictures when I take them to see Santa in the mall while they are in their stroller and dressed in Christmas (dare I say) "dresses". :p The only time I put dresses on them. |
Honestly it would be like someone randomly taking pics of my kids. I would find it very rude and unnerving. Like a privacy line has been crossed. |
Just in case, I'll bet you are watching your dog and your property extra carefully. Sounds odd odd odd to me. |

It depends, I guess. Like, when I go to the dog park, I will often bring my camera and even though I'm obviously mainly focusing on Jackson, sometimes other dogs get in the photograph as well. I'm not being a creep or anything, just have some pictures of other random peoples dogs, LOL. But in your situation, it may be a little odd, but not necessarily harmful. Like Nancy said, if he was from another country, maybe his customs are different, etc. |
I find it very odd when people ask to take photos of my dog and usually decline. If we are in a dog park/ playgroup setting and people are snapping photos that doesn't bother me at all- I get that they want photos of their dogs interacting with other dogs, or are just trying to get photos of their own dogs, etc. But just wanting a random photo of my dog is very odd, sorry. And if someone in my area was just snapping photos that would really creep me out because I would be concerned about motives. |
OMG, no, never. |
I recently asked a girl I saw at a festival if I could take a picture of her yorkie because she was so cute and had the hair cut I wanted for Cali. I explained why I wanted to take a few pictures and she was fine with it. I took the picture to my groomer and she was able to cut her just like I wanted. But I would never take pictures and not ask first. |
That would bother me. I think I would have asked him to stop and I would have picked up Sofia and made sure he stayed away. |
Lots of tourists have photographed Fido, I dont mind it :) |
1 Attachment(s) To be honest it happens all of the time. Kaos goes everywhere cause he's a service dog, and I live in NYC. Tourists that can't speak english do it ALL the time. I don't really mind though. The last time I had someone do it, they were tourists from Spain and they emailed me the pictures weeks later. I was grateful and surprised they did. I am always weird about strangers touching him though, or even picking him up. Otherwise I don't mind them taking pictures, I would take pictures if I saw him too. :p |
It would probably make me nervous if this happened to us. I tend to have a suspicious mind though. :) |
