| They're not born knowing that baths are a good thing. You have to teach them to like it, or tolerate it. Mine hates baths, but has learned to just let me do it. The sooner he gives in, the sooner it's over with.

| This is an 8 week old puppy that is not accustomed to being away from it's mom yet. I would say if you are able to take the dog to work or where ever you are going for the day then take it if you have a safe and comfortable way of transporting the pup. If you are doing a lot of running around, like in and out of stores or visiting a lot of people, I'd say the puppy may be safer at home. The pup certainly should not be near other dogs as it does not have all it's shots yet. Don't even let it stand on ground another dog may have been on. A puppy is a baby and needs lots of sleep. A Yorkie baby is delicate and should not be handled by children. You have quite a responsibility. A good padded carrier that you can secure in a seat belt in your car will keep the puppy safe while you travel. Remember housebreaking has to be done at home so if you want to get started on that you may want to try to stay home more until the first few months are behind you. |

| Congrats on your new baby!!! Even though you really shouldn't take her out and about and expose her to other "doggie germs" you know the ones, and the groomer is a big no no, most groomers want a copy of the shot records any way, the "bath" should be just a fun time, a bonding time, treats and love time. So maybe at first you just use warm water in a big pan in your kitchen sink and play, splash, splash, play, laugh, fun. That's all. Big warm towel, hugs and love. Bonding. Sprocket did not like the bath, but now, we spend time together on "his" bath day. When you build this bond, you can then go on to do your own grooming too, saves $$$ , I know, down the road a long time but, planning, just now, love and fun for both of you. Enjoy your new little one.

| Im just going to echo what others are saying. This is a new baby, that hasn't had all of its shots. Take it slow and easy introducing new things for a while. This baby has its whole life to go places with you. Mina's favorite place is in my lap while I am on the computer, this happens at home. That is where she is right now, just watching everyone else in the house. Congrats on your new baby!! Lots of hugs, good food, sleep and play is what is needed. |
