I have a ball obsessed dog. Cooper eats with it next to him, sleeps with it and carries it around all day. I've gone through periods where I've taken it away from him for weeks at a time and he plays with other toys. As soon as i reintroduce his ball he's back to his obsessive behavior. I've struggled with whether or not to give in to him but he loves it so much that I feel guilty taking it away. I've found that ignoring him when he's barking for me to throw it and playing with my other dog seems to help him get more involved with something else.

I can't use it for training. He's so obsessed with it that he can't pay attention to what I am trying to teach him

I think it is a yorkie thing. I have 3 that are obsessed with balls. Anytime they see it they will whine and do circles and flips. We play ball often but I always have to put the ball up when we are done as they get too absorbed in it or will tear it to shreds. It even takes them sometime after the ball is put up to forget about it.

Bentley is so funny. This is by far his favorite toy. We have a small house, so we also throw it down the hall. He wll go crazy. He now does circles before he runs after the ball. It does get a little loud at times and drives me nuts cuz he will bark. After awhile I will have to hide the ball from him. Hahaha. Mama needs a break.
