| Pixie, you need a new motto Pixie has a motto that goes like this.. If YOU have food, then WE have food. She truly wants to eat everything she sees us eating. I have had to start watching my kids like a hawk, because she is so adorable in her begging, they don't like to correct her and try to slip her bits and pieces of what they are eating. I confess, I do it as well, but I only offer things one would think a dog would not eat.. Like a bit of steamed broccoli, or cherry tomato. I keep thinking she's going to say, umm,. no, I'm not going to eat this, but she keeps shocking me. Yesterday and this morning were banner days. She begged and begged and begged for a bit of the fruit I was eating. Well, there is no way a dog will eat a BLUEBERRY, right? Wrong. She also stole a bit of pineapple rind that fell on the floor, but I think I got it all from her before she actually ate it. And this morning, Fred the turtle came out for a bite to eat. I mixed up his food, which is a combination of freeze dried Bearded Dragon food with canned Zoo Med Box Turtle food. Well, HE didn't eat it.. But PIXIE did Almost half his food before I caught her. Thank goodness his portions are small. I guess Fred thought turn about was fair play, because he then proceeded to eat HER food. It was desert time for Fred, which is live super worms (they're like mealworms, but bigger). Fred chased his tucker down, but the PIXIE wanted his worms. I tossed one to him and it landed between the two, and I had to chase her off because she went for the worm.. THEN she tried to take it out of his mouth!! Really, Pixie, this WE have food thing of yours has been taken a bit too far. |

| I know how you feel my Sassy has started jumping in my husbands lap when he is at the table to get whatever he is eating. she is small and has super long legs, so she is up there before you know it.I bet Fred the turtle wish Pixie would leave him alone. She might decide she didn't want his food if she ate one of his worms.

| Everything you listed as something you thought your Pixie wouldn't eat is part of the RAW diet vegi.s...not sure about bearded dragon or turtle food though, but that's cute. Watching like a hawk is all that you can do sometimes.

| I guess because everything I have read about how delicate the Yorkie digestive system is, and how picky some can be, it shocked me that she would WANT to eat unadorned fruit and veggies. I used to feed a part BARF diet to my dogs once upon a time, and while my dogs would eat say broccoli, they wouldn't eat it plain. The beaded dragon food is actually pretty good, dry dandilion greens, dry red clover tops, freeze dried corn, freeze dried carrots, freeze dried green beans, freeze dried leeks, freeze dried zucchini, freeze dried grasshopper pieces, freeze dried bananas, dry calendula flowers. OK I'm not sure about the last, but it is the last on the list. This, of course, is reconstituted with water before offering. The Zoo Med is fresh apples, fresh carrots, ground corn, whole corn, Dextrose, Soybean Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Brewers Yeast, Kelp Powder, Gums, Apple Flavoring, Vitamin Mix.. So there isn't anything UNHEALTHY, except maybe the apple flavoring. But Pixie... LIVE BUGS!!??? REALLY??!!! I don't think, though, I will be allowing Pixie and Fred to eat each others food, lol. |

| Actually.. "Calendula officinalis is an easy to grow herb with lots of health benefits for your dog through internal and external applications. - planting Calendula and picking the blossoms. Or go to your local health food store to buy it dried. - Add fresh or dried Calendula to your dog's dinner for improved digestion, and yeast and fungal-infection prevention. Throw some fresh or dried flower heads, either whole, chopped or ground into your dogs regular meal. Add up to one teaspoon ddried or one tablespoon fresh flower petals per 20 lbs of body weight per day. - Use a Calendula salve (bought or home made) on exterenal injuries to speed healing and prevent bacterial growth - Brewing Calendula tea and using it as a highly effective wash and healing agent for wounds, stings, hot spots and rashes. - Soaking your dog's toothbrush with Calendula tea before brushing to help prevent gum disease. From Modern Dog Magazine - Spring 2010 Also, Brewer's Yeast has never been an issue in any of my dogs, save for those that had allergies. They do after all, make Brewer's yeast pills for dogs. The gums are likely a kind of pectin, or starch made to thicken the food, as the zoo med canned food it like a thick and heavy gel. I do wish they would be more specific than just gums, since they can mean many things. Being as it is for reptiles that have notoriously more sensitive digestive systems than dogs, I think it would be relatively safe. Sadly, many dog foods, even high quality ones, have corn in them. Not that I'm going out of my way to feed my dog with corn based products. All in all, I have not let Pixels get into the habit of stealing Fred's food. It's formulated for turtles (ok bearded dragons AND turtles), not greedy little puppies. Though I see Pixie just plotting on how to get her paws on his super worms and freeze dried grasshoppers. I think she is taking the terrier in her a bit too far with the wanting to eat bugs thing, lolol. |

| Maybe I took it too personally, I have an epileptic dog here, another with allergies and another with corn allergies.
