| Eye Shine: Red AND Green??? Sometimes Lucy's eyes flash green (unmistakably, vividly green) and sometimes they flash yellow or red. Once, she ever had one and 3/4 of her eyes green and the other 1/4 an eye red and yellow. Why do you think it flashes both? |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | This time I have no clue..lol. But maybe the photographers in our forum could hazard a guess. I'm thinking maybe something to do with the lighting?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This article explains eye shine and coat types. Eye Shine My guess is it shows up differently because of lighting and flash. To have it work the best, you should be in a fairly dark room with very little additional lighting and use a flash. The other possibilty is your dog may have a mixed coat, you know a blend of cotton and silk. I don't think that's the proper word, but I just can't think of it right now. Darn getting old is a bitch!

| New here:D! Confused with coat textures. Hi all! I'm new to YT and just happened upon it on the web while searching for the site of the breeder we just got our yorkie puppy from a month or so ago. I see one of your members got one from her also. Anyhow, I have read so much on the topic of the coat and got interested in the coat texture test (with the flashlight.) Unfortunately, I couldnt get the puppies eyes to show any color but the same dark brown/black that they naturally are. I will however try to do the test in a darker room. To your question, I have read so much on the web on puppies showing different colors at different times and how much the angling and lighting depends on the outcome that i'm starting to doubt the test will ever really be to reliable. On a sidenote, I also have seen quite a few pics of the adult yorkies on the web and in the photos that i have come across, i does seem that the rule does ring true in most cases. red=nonsilky, green=silky. |
