| Canine Teeth Question- Gum turning brown... My yorkie is 8 months old. He has all of his adult canine teeth. The bottom 2 baby teeth have been out for awhile. He has both baby and adult canine teeth on the top. My vet said he would give him until 9 months to lose them before he'd pull them. Today I was checking to see if he'd lost them and I noticed that his gums right above the canines on one side are turning brown. It's just right over the teeth. Is this because the baby tooth needs pulled? Infection? Should I be worried? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Here's the answer I gave you on the diet forum. Is your dog a yorkie? I've seen mottled colored dogs have gums that were brown and pink, almost like the brown was a darkening of pigment, but nothing was wrong with the dog. Quote:

| Thanks for your reply, yes he is a yorkie. I know what you are talking about with the dark gums, but this is different. It is only directly above the 2 canines on one side of his mouth. Please look at the picture I've attached. |

| Jackson also had his baby teeth and his adult canine teeth grow in at the same time. His looked exactly like that as well until the baby teeth were removed during his neuter at 7 1/2 months old.
