Just checking to see how little "cool dude" Deeogi is doing. Hope each day is a little better. |
Excuse me, I didn't know that I needed to have a certain number of posts to express my opinion. If you will see, the first and last thing I did was offer my well wishes to the poor puppy that was terribly hurt. My words were NOT to bebeyorkie who is going through such a tragic time in their life, but to someone who hopes that someone else loses a dog they might love as much as the bebeyorkie loves their dog. And YOU may not think it is my place as a new member, but it's not YOUR place to tell me what my place is. Thank you. And once more, I will offer my sympathies and best wishes to Deeogi and bebeyorkie. I do so apologize to you for the drama, and I really am wishing the best for your family. It just bothered me that in a thread of well wishing for your family, someone else was hoping for the destruction of someone else's family. That struck me as very wrong. Perhaps I should not have said anything, but keeping my mouth shut has never been something I was good at when it comes to things I see as wrong. Again, I hope he comes through this without any permanent trauma. |

BUT...I need to say just one thing here. You took a small snippet of someone's post and made them sound like they were simply wishing destruction of someone's beloved pet. Her post was very compassionate and did mention that her daughter has pit bulls and that they are wonderful pups. I realize what you were trying to say, but I do think you overreacted to one little sentence. I am one who firmly believes that AC needs to be involved here. What better way to assure that this will not happen again? If not managed properly, this dog will attack another dog again, or perhaps a child or any person. As another poster said, if it is necessary to euthanize to keep everyone/thing safe, then so be it. I hate to see any animal euthanized...but the sad fact is that in some cases it is necessary. This entire thread was full of people with good wishes to Deeogi and his family....and the theme was not about destroying the pit bull. In most cases where the pit was mentioned it was with the word control being used....the dog needs to be controlled. Period! Back to our regularly scheduled programming. :) |

I'll pray for your baby...this also happened to us a few years ago when a neighbor's pitbull was running loose....I love all animals, but people need to be responsible.. both mine are OK now, |
Hoping for an update. |
Just checking for a update! I would love to know how the baby is doing? I'm still sending prayers! |
I am sorry to have to post this. It seems a person cannot say anything on this board without being attacked for their position. I hope that the OP will ignore this comment. When a dog of any breed attempts to kill or viciously attacks another animal, or worse a human, the situation with that animal has already been out of control. The owner obviously does not have control over that dog. Television programs that represent the rehabilitation of these dogs are wonderful, however, these cases of rehab are the exception and not what is happening across the country. Very few people have the training and ability to properly rehab a dog that has already mauled another animal. It is very doubtful that those people would be able to find an accredited place to do it. If they could that would be wonderful but unfortunately it likely will not happen. Shelters are full of pit bulls and other dogs that are put down daily because of aggressive behavior. I say this with great sadness because the American Staffordshire Terrier is a wonderful breed that has been hijacked by irresponsible breeders to create a very unreliable and dangerous group of dogs. I say again. It is not the dogs fault. It is the fault of irresponsible humans and it is they that have caused this tragedy. The dog who did this to the OP's dog can never be trusted in a normal neighborhood environment again. Rather than move the dog to another location where it is a threat to others or to place it in a shelter to suffer and eventually be put down it is my opinion that the kindest thing to do is have the animal humanely put down. I realize others are free to state their own opinions. I am not cold hearted about this but I am a realist. I love the breed and I hope someone cared for that dog but they did not do well by the dog or their neighbors. As for terriers killing rats being related to pit bulls attacking Yorkies.......I can only say that there is no reason or excuse what so ever for a dog of any breed to attack and maul another dog. It is not the natural instinct of the American Staffordshire Terrier to do this. A well bred AST is a wonderful loving companion dog. |
Just checking in and sending more love and prayers to little Deeogi. |
