I agree w/ many others, REPORT THIS ATTACK, how do you NOT know her dog hasn't attacked in the past, may be that's why she has him in "hiding".. PLEASE REPORT THIS!!! Sending continued prayers for you and Deeogi |
My prayers are with you and your family! I am so sorry to hear. Recently a famous rapper's (Rick Ross) pitbulls ran lose and killed their neighbor's yorkie. People really need to get a handle on their dogs! Stories like this horrify me! |
Just checking in & still sending prayers up for your family and your pup! I agree with what others have said, report this attack. If you do end up having to take the neighbor to court in order to get the vet bills paid, it will help a lot if you have filed a report. I also agree that given the situation, the vets office will most likely try to work with you when it comes to payments. Keep us posted. |
Thoughts and prayers to you and Deeogi. |
I hope you and Deeogi are doing a little better today. My prayers are with you both. |
Hoping for an update. We are all worried. |
I understand not wanting to get animal control involved. If they see or find out how many animals you have, they may take them away as well. You have a difficult situation. The owner of the pit should be held responsible, but you don't want to lose your babies over the deal either. Could you possibly get a special type of animal license to allow you to have all your pets? We had more than we were supposed to have when we lived in Omaha and had to get a special license from the local humane society. They inspected our home and yard, looked at where we kept the dogs and how we made food and water available to them at all times. Then they gave us the license and we had to pay a fee up front and then annual fee afterwards to keep the license current. The only way to force the owner of the pit to pay all medical expenses may be to file a police report and take it to court or even small claims court. I think the lady was taking pictures of the fence and area around your property in an attempt to help defend her case in the event you go to court. The bottom line is that her dog came onto your property and attacked your dog. Period. Her dog was not controlled and was not on her property, so I really can't see how she has any defense anyhow. Good luck with your situation. I still hope and pray Deeogi makes a full and speedy recovery and is back home soon. God bless the little guy! |

I am following this thread and praying. Please keep us up dated as you can. We all, are concerned. |
Hello everyone. Deeogi is slowiy improving he has had to stay at vet's because he started vomiting yesterday. I cared for him here at home last night after hours care is an additional $161 and I don't have the money. Vet gave him all his meds and sedative before he came home for the night. He slept pretty well except for a few moans during the night. I took him back to vet this morning for observation they will keep him there all day. The girls at vets office have been so helpful with geting the owner to pay bill. I think they must have called her a dozen times yesterday. Of course she didn't answer calls. She finally called back late in the day and paid the remaining balance which was $645. She must have remembered that she signed paperwork at vet where she stated that she would be financially responsible. Regarding filing a police report - once I file will animal control come to my house? I am already sick to my stomache over this I don't know what I would do if animal control makes me keep only 3. Haven't been able to sleep just feel so sick:( |
I am glad Deeogi is getting a little better. I don't know what I would do about the animal control issue. She may report you anyway just to be mean. I have more that I am allowed too so I understand your concern. I just would be worried about that dog hurting or killing another animal or person. Do you know what she has done with the dog? I will keep you all in my prayers. |
Thanks for the update. I am continuing to think about and keep Deeogi in my prayers. I don't know the laws where you live, but I would encourage you to report this incident, and it may even be that the animal clinic caring for Deeogi is mandated to report it as well, so you may not have a choice. Maybe you can check into an exemption from your city since you do rescue work. Just some thoughts. I am glad the owner of the other dog is paying the bill. |

Thanks for the update, it is such a blessing for you this lady paid the bill. I don\'t know what your AC laws are in your county, I would check. They may come out. You could always get a friend to call and check about the rules. I am so happy to hear Deeogi is doing good, what is his prognosis? It is good that you can keep him at night, I am sure you slept better with him at home. I can\'t imagine the pain you are suffering, you continue to be in my prayers. |
Thank you for the update. So glad he is doing better. |
Honey I would suggest that you look into the animal control laws in your area. I tried to look into it for you yesterday but the law is different for each city. I did find that the information is pretty easy to find. I searched "how many dogs can I have in *****" For example there are areas where two is the limit but for my area I would be allowed to have the amount of fur babies that you have. I can only imagine what you are going through right now. Honestly every time I think about it I tear up. I am so very very relieved to hear that the other owner is paying the costs as the last thing you should have to worry about right now is paying for the injury inflicted by the pitbull. So just to put your mind at ease I would look into the number of dogs you may have. If I were in your situation and discovered that I was over the allowed number I honestly wouldn\'t call. IMHO it\'s enough that you have been through all of this hell you are not required to put yourself through anymore stress and heartache by potentially losing any of your little ones. I am so glad to hear that he is still continuing to recover. I hate to ask but has the vet told you if any of his injuries are life long? My daughters have been asking me repeatedly if I have heard how he is doing. We are all praying for a full recovery and for you and your family. |
