My first Yorkie was a rescue... he adopted me! He's 9+ lbs with a strong terrier nose, short legs, but perfectly colored blue and gold coat. People immediately recognize him as a Yorkie. I did a DNA on him, and he is purebred Yorkie. My second Yorkie came from a show home. They didn't breed for puppies, and if it became obvious the pup would never champion, he/she was altered and put out for adoption. He's purebred with some pretty impressive parentage... Honest to God... people look at my big'n and say 'beautiful Yorkie', and look at my 5#, long legged, guy and say 'what is that?'. When you hold him in the crook of your arm, he looks like a Rhesus (sp?) monkey... so we just say he's a monkey and go on. He's 100% adorable, so cute people can't quit staring. It reminds me of when one of my tall, blue eyed blond sisters had a beautiful, blond, brown eyed little girl and people would obviously stare back and forth between mother and daughter until my sister would say, in deadpan style..."the pool cleaner..." People realized they had been caught and laugh hysterically. |
