Has anyone else quit walking in this heat? Ringo is about to go crazy; we are on Day 2 without a walk. But it's almost 96 degrees - still - and 90% humidity. I'm a little worried about walking them in this heat. Anyone else? Or am I just paranoid? |
quit walking too I did too...what do ya do? Its so hot out? Since I am still training, I take Pierre out back on a leash for a few minutes, and then when Im inside I try to pee pad train him.:D |
We dont walk in this heat if we do we go in the morning when its cooler |
If I can't get outside to walk before 7 am, the dogs use their potty pads. They will go out for a few minutes but run back inside. They are all potty pad trained also, the girls prefer indoors. |
Same here- I am in Ontario Canada- right now it is 9 pm and we are still at 80 degrees, 90 with the humidity. I was getting up at 6:30 to walk Layla but even then it is too hot. I am hating this- Layla needs her daily walks and it hasn't happpened in about a week. |
Since it's been 95-100 degrees here, we don't walk until after dark. If we don't walk, we go to the park and sit under a shade tree. There's a couple of lakes so it's a bit cooler there. It's 85 degrees at 6:00AM, it's nothing but hot here! |
If i didn't walk because it is 90 out we would not walk all summer:eek: What is getting me is the Mosquito I can't take it. If I try to walk early or late to beat the heat I get eaten alive! I feel like I did when I was a kid and count all the bites... I am up to over 100...not a joke!!:eek: My dh has been walking the pack, he doesn't seam to get bitten as much as I do. Yesterday I must have had 50 mosquitoes on my feet. ugh!!!! I can just imagine how I looked.. hopping-- slapping at the dam things |
Yes, no walks here until it gets cooler. Mid-90's and high humidity. They would go for a walk regardless, so we have to sometimes do the thinking for them. |
Haven't been walking here, as it's usually too hot even by 6:30 in the morning. It's awful...hottest summer I remember in Texas for over 10 years, and more humid, too. At least we're not in Oklahoma where my daughter is; it's getting to 105 and over there! I think Zoe's mad about no walks. :( |
We went out early this morning, but we did not have an evening walk. Wasn't going to risk the boys getting overheated. They are going nuts. :( |
We've basically been not walking. It's just TOO hot. Jackson hates the heat anyways. I am a dogwalker so I still have to go and let all the dogs out, but we generally do a quick 5-10 minute leg stretch and potty break. I bring Jackson with me so he gets SOME form of exercise and mental stimulation but other than that, we've been doing a lot of indoor playing and I get him to my dads house once or twice a week to get in some swimming. |
No. We don't walk much anyway. I'd like to start walking Rylee, but it is just way too hot. His paw pads would suffer for it and he has so much hair. No way. |
No walks here... but increased playing fetch to wear their butts out! Tink insists on going out, but comes right back in before i can close the door, lol. I'm wore out, she wants out every two minutes... just to look around and see what's going on. |
No walks or anything here. I don't even take Princess out at all if I can help it. Just a five minutes outside & she's panting like crazy. She uses pads, though I'd like to just let her get some fresh air but it's just crazy here. They're saying 98 for Thursday! |
I've tried walking right before dark, but it is still so hot the doggies will hardly walk back. One will plop down on the grass and refuse to budge, the other just walks so slowly and stops a lot that we never get anywhere! Luckily mine are lazy anyway and have to be woken up for walks.:D |
it is getting back into the 100's here. I don't walk my 2 in this heat at all. |
We've been taking Giz to the outdoor mall. He gets his walkies, but at least we can duck into cool stores too cool down a little bit. People there think I'm nuts, toting around my won collasping dog bowl and water bottle. |
Well I just went for a brief walk at 9:00 PM and I"M going to need another shower! We went about a fourth of our usual walk and even Ringo didn't put up a fuss when we started heading for home. The humidity is what gets me and them, I think. |
We don't walk at all in this heat. Max is such a drama king that he starts panting when he sees the leash! I'd rather not take any risks. We do take 5 minute breaks many times though out the day in the backyard for quick exercise. |
No walking here until it cools down. I refuse to even let Sophie Kate walk on my paved driveway- I carry her over it to the grass. Honestly she is not so much into heat, she goes outside and does her duty very fast. |

We went for a walk tonight but not until 9pm. It is still 80 out with high humidity but there are lots of sprinklers along the way that we walked through!! :) |

No walks here either until it cools down and the humidity lifts a bit. The humidity is oppressive.:( The last report I saw was, it's supposed to get worse the next 2 days  |
I know I should be feeling sorry for all of you but.... I'm feeling too sorry for myself! I took Mabel and Darwin out this morning and Mabel was shivering the whole way. It hasn't been summer at all around here. Only a few nice days - today it warmed up to 16 degrees celsius (60F). Guess I should be happy it's not snowing(yet)! :thumbdown:thumbdown |

We've been trying to give Roxie her long walk in the morning, before it gets really hot. She usually poos then, so the rest of the day are quick trips outside to pee. Believe it or not, I think Roxie likes the heat. Sometimes she will just lay down in the grass and soak in the sun. I usually have to pick her up and carry her inside so she doesn't get heatstroke or sunburn. |
My 4 like to go outside on the deck and lay in the sun. I let them do this early and have to make them come inside, but they love their air condition. I know the electric companies are loving this heat. |
Mina and I have been playing on the stairs,we go up we go down. You can walk/run a circle in my house (den, foyer, formal, kitchen, den) so we have been doing that as well. She has a poodle and a chi to play zoom zoom with,we just all make sure we are sitting with our feet up and watch. I was taking her in the pool but she was spay a week ago so we haven't played outside. The temps here have been 101,102 everyday with no change in site. |
We walk here. DC will be hot until September so I don't really have a choice. If I didnt walk Izzy he would be a crazy doggie :p What I do is limit the length of walks and mostly take him out between 6:30-7:30am when its cooler. Short wallks during the day(5-10 min), then another longer walk at night between 8-9. He would prefer to go out. So to save my carpet, we go on walks. I just make sure I don't over do it. When he's tired, he will let me know. Last night I got home around 11pm and we had a nice walk it was only 80 degrees! Lol:D |
