We walk Bentley in the morning before the heat of the day. So far it seems to be working and it's not too hot, but then again I'm in Ohio. It's only 75 degrees right now. Bentley doesn't need a lot of walks, he's a very sedentary dog. Just like us! haha |
No playtime outside here. We go out to do our business and right back in. Just to hot to even play in the pool. This has to break soon I hope |
We don't go for walks in this weather, Chloe and I can't handle it at all, Armani is indifferent to the heat really. However, we try to get lots of indoor playtime/ mental stimulation and we go sit outside when the sun goes down to get a little fresh air at least. |
We go out about 5 in the morning for our walks and once or twice in the afternoon in the backyard for a quickie thats it. Sometimes after 5 pm it gets a little cooler but not much but at least without the sun it seems a little better. We have all of our dogs groomed very short but it doesn't really help. They perfer the house where we have central air. |
ILt's 93 degrees here and it isn't even 9:00 A. Macy's favorite place to lay is in the sun in front of the floor register with the cold air blowing on her. Best of both worlds. |
I still walk Ian twice a day. We're usually out about 630a and 815p. Our walks have gotten a little shorter, though. |
Keno still get his walks. But early morning on grass only. |
Louie still gets to walk, but it is late at night, and just around the block till this heat subsides. |
I still walk. But it is more prep time when it is so hot. We wear wet T-shirts (both the doggies and myself) my fanny pack has turned into a shopping bag and now includes poop bags, a frozen bottle of water, a wet wash cloth in a zip lock bag, two bottles of water, a foldable water bowl, cell phone, and pepper spray. We avoid the hot pavement, and stick to more shady side of the park. Clip on bug repellent does help if you are walking by a lake like we do. I admit we are only going about 1/2 as far as usual. We ( me lol) can't take 2 miles in the heat twice a day ! |

I like that... I like the smell of lemon, could I add a little lavender to that?? j/k My luck the lavender will attract the darn things:eek: I am fine, worst comes to worst the "pack" will just pee on the pads (or my carpet when I am not looking:eek:-- that is why I have a carpet cleaner!!) The year my poor dh was really sick I walked them and it was just as bad, but I had bigger problems so I just dealt with it. I guess that says life is better that I have time to freak out over a few 1000 bites:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: |

Went from mowing once a month to 2 x a week!!! I think as much as I complain about the heat in South Florida it is not as bad as the Mid west!! At least we get some ocean breezes... it is the humidity that kills me. My hair can go from nice and straight to ringlets:mad: in under 5 seconds. |

As to walking, we are not walking in this heat, either. We actually started cutting down on time outside since Gidget was diagnosed w allergies this spring, but this heat is really getting us to stay inside. She now is amused by going for rides (in AC car!) and going into pet-friendly local stores in her carrier. She's not spoiled at all! |

It is just so horrible to be sitting here praying for rain and then watching the news and seeing the devastating flooding and extreme heat indexes across most of the nation. Praying everyone cools off soon! |

We go out very early ..... like about 6:00AM. Sometimes we go out again at around 8:00PM. I would rather miss the evening walk but she really loves to do and looks forward to it. Hope there is a cold front coming through soon. |
4 idiots (3 friends and myself) scheduled to play golf today. We all showed up, and were the only ones on the Fox Run GC. THe lot was empty and usually it is packed. I felt good on the front none, but started going downhill on the back nine, and had 10 more strokes on the back nine. Could not wait to finish. Got home, showered, feel asleep, took a nap, woke up, and still stiff. Age and heat do not mix. At least I had 5 Bottles of Water and 3 bottles of G2....The dogs now do not even want to go out. It was 102 on the Course. |
I walk Teddy every morning at around 8-9AM and it is about 80 degrees. Sure it's hot but the floor is still cool so it's fine. I always take a bottle of water with me just in case. |
Scooter must be part lizard because he loves the heat. He's used to it so he plays outside every day. I do think if you are not used to the heat it can be dangerous. Hope it cools off for everyone. |
outside in the Heat! We have a huge fenced in back yard. Our four little yorkies just love to run and play however in this terrible heat I really watch them. I only allow them outside for no more than 10 minutes at a time every couple of hours. We have a pool and our Max loves to jump in about a million times to retrieve his ball and swims to the steps. However it is still to hot even for him so when I go out to the pool in the afternoons I have to inch my way out to the deck without little dogs who don't understand where Mom is going and why it is so hot! They hate cold wheather and also very hot wheather. We really watch them so carefully here in the heat.:) |
Another Texas here going on 19 days of straight 100 degree weather here, poor Gizmo has been on house arrest for at least 3 weeks now and I sure do miss our daily walks down our road. He is almost 5 yrs old so has been potty pad trained from the beginning since I got him in the winter months and could not take him out in the cold. So for now he just goes out with me when I run errands and I take him to my local thrift store to walk around just to get him out for a bit. Gosh I would give anything for just a little rain, even though Gizmo would still not be able to go out at least it would cool things down. Cynthia:animal37:animal37:animal37 |
No walks for Sweet Pea here in Calif...too hot and she hates the heat as much as i do! |
