Sigh.. this just makes me sick. One would think having such an education she would have a brain. But many times book sense doesn't mean common sense, and she's obviously lacking common sense all together. OP you tried your best to inform your friend. All you can do. Let's just pray this poor baby makes it. Poor thing when from hell right into another fire, literally. |

I agree, Let's all just hope this little puppy makes it. It is all anyone can do. You did good OP for trying to inform her, but some people are just a bit hardheaded :( |
OP, I think that you are a good friend and really are concerned for this tiny puppy. Sadly your friend, Megan will no doubt come crying to you if this little baby is unwell and costs her huge vet bills. I hope the puppy will make it safely to the airport but even that is up in the air. Megan may be in for a whole lot of heartache. BUt it might teach her a lesson. You did write that your friend was mad at you when you talked to her about this . SHe does not want to listen. Your friend has a whole lot of education, & money but does not care to learn the facts . I really do not think she has any idea what she is getting into. :( As for you thinking that your shallow too, in no way does that ever come accross in your posts. |
I feel so sorry for this pup. :( OP, you have done all you can and I applaud you for trying to get through to your selfish friend. Hopefully your friend will turn to you when this poor baby shows up sick, which sounds inevitable, and you will be able to offer her some guidance. Please keep us posted. |
Heck, for what it cost to ship the dog, I would have picked it up and driven it to her..... But I also would never buy a dog sight unseen from someone that had bad reviews. The breeder I'm looking at is highly recommended! And I'll drive to her location and pick up the baby myself! |

The reason that she was told to give pancake syrup it to bring the glucose levels up after the flight. Personally, I believe that Nutical is a better choice for this but *I* do not have any experience with a tiny puppy and hypoglycemia. TOMLYN NUTRI CAL PUPPY 4.25OZ | All Pet Outlet What I do know is that your friend had better make sure she does not leave this 1.2 lb puppy alone until is gets bigger. The tiny little ones like this need to be tended to like a baby all the time and cannot be left for more than a few hours at a time. I don't have a lot of time to search but this is the first article that I found: Puppy Hypoglycemia: Low Blood Sugar If your friend does not know what to watch for and know what actions to take this is very dangerous for the puppy. There are plenty of stories on YT about hypoglycemia and of puppies that have even died. :( Is your friend still speaking to you? I'd try to keep the communication open for the sake of this puppy. I am very worried........... |
Does anyone know if this little pup made it alive or not? I really feel sorry for the pup. The human has a choice in her actions. The puppy doesn't. This is not directed at the OP. I think we're all just really concerned about the welfare of the dog. |
Supposedly (according to her FB) the puppy who she calls sebastian has arrived and is as cute as can be. She has pics of him and he looks itty bitty. That is all I know as she stopped responding to my texts yesterday. |
I'm sure if the puppy takes a turn for the worse, you will be the first person she will come crying to. I hope the puppy is healthy though. |
I'm sure she will. She has never had a small dog so I worry. I did text her to let her know she could contact me with any questions or Concerns. |

WooHoo roadtrip!! I just can not imagine putting a puppy on a plane unless it was in someones arms. How is it right to put them in cargo? Like they are just luggage. I am watching Mina sleep and the thought of her being in a "box" like a hat and shipped in an unairconditioned area makes me want to cry. I made a trip from FtW to SanAntonio many years ago to pick up a pom puppy. Half the fun was the anticipation of getting there and spending the rest of the day with each other in the car. Somebody else drove for me so I could just take care of the puppy. It isn't about the destination and acquisition, its about the journey and the developement of a new relationship with a new friend. Oh ya and to the OP,Your baby sounds very sweet and you seem like someone that cares. I am sorry that you are stuck in the middle with a friend whos common sense isnt so common. Be sure to come back and spend time with us here at YT. Lots of knowledge to be found from alot of wise and passionate people. |
There's no way I would hand over $1200 - $2000 for a dog, sight unseen, to a person or company over the internet. That site could be gone tomorrow, and you either don't get the dog or maybe the dog is sick or dies. Probably comes from a sickening puppy mill. When we were talking about getting a puppy, I looked on the internet to find breeders, and came across several of those types of websites. You call a 1-888 number or something and deal with a "broker" in Florida. No thanks. I'm really happy that we got to see Ozzy, pick him up, see his personality, could see and observe his parents, and talk with the breeders. We know where they live, and have the phone number and email address if we have any questions. We fell in love with Ozzy not only because he's cute, but because of his personality and those of his mom and dad. I'm so so glad we went the route we did. |
I sure hope this little guy does ok. |
Poor thing, hopefully his health will come first instead of this woman's stupid pride. |
