| HELP!! Going to Hawaii..... Ok so we have our orders to go to honolulu.. I have 2 babies and I was told that going to hawaii that the babies are not allowed IN the cabin? I really don't understand why and I am going to call an airline later to find out WHY they can travel to and from Germany but not hawaii..? I want to add that I have started their quarantine process for those who are familiar with this. 10 days out I will be getting their health certificate and all that jazz. Army vet has me covered on all the "health" stuff.. But again, I'm talking about 7 & 10 lb babies!! They can't fly cargo! They'd go crazy!!! Anyone know of ANY airline that allows the dogs in the cabin in a proper carrier? I have one soft carrier and I WAS going to get another one but if this is true, I wont be getting another one. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!! I'm freaking out!!! I have until September to figure this out UGH!!

| I fly with Cali all the time. The size of your pups means that they cannot both go in the same carrier, so that will mean that you will have to have someone else fly with you to take the other pup. They only allow so many dogs/cats on each flight so you will have to find a flight that would allow you to have two dogs on the plane (in the cabin) at the same time. I would not recommend you put them below even though they say it is heated/cooled and pressurized. Ask for bulkhead seats and put the carrier(s) at your feet. There are a few airlines that will let you purchase a seat for you babies, but not many and not all the time. That is a long flight and your pups really need to be used to their carrier. If they aren't, send me a PM and I can give you some tips for that also. Hope this helps.

| First of all, make a list of Airlines that fly to HI. Check with them, be persistant, polite, and positive. The 3 Ps of pet ownership. Googel it. Face Book it. Appeal to millatary people who may have information. Don't Panic. You have time to research this and find a solution. As a last resort you can call the TV News you may find public support or a private solution. Dog can be medicated to make the trip easier for them. Prayers and hugs. |

| yorkiemini - thanks they are used to their carriers both hard and soft. And the love both of them. They associate them with going somewhere teresa - i have looked at all the major airlines through pettravel.com. All of them pretty much say that they have to fly cargo when going to hawaii. Any where else they can fly as a carry on pending on size which mine qualify for. lucky though when flying cargo, one person can have 2 pets. But it will be me and my hubby flying so we will both take one. it's crappy though, because it's more money to fly cargo.. and they cant fly together because they are both over a yr old... i'm just wondering if anyone has flown to hawaii besides using a private jet that had their yorkies IN the cabin...

| I flew southwest airlines with no problems with Furgie. I know there are other airlines that do allow dogs in the cabin, good luck!

| You cannot fly a dog in the cabin to Hawaii because it is inconvenient for the airlines since your dog must immediately be quarantined. You can expedite the quarantine process - see here http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/ai/aqs/aqs-checklist-5.pdf

loving furgie - you flew to hawaii and went through the quarantine process too? all dog boots - thank you so much. that was very helpful and i must admint, i am NOT flying to korea just so they can fly in the cabin with me.. it really sucks but i know people have been flying with dogs for years to hawaii. i may just get a mild sedative to give them to just relax them but still keep them conscious... UGH just sucks cuz now i have to buy two hard cases to put them in...

| Hawaii is rabies free so any animals coming in usually have to go straight to quarantine. If they flew in cabin then passengers would be able to bypass this requirement and just walk off the plane and out the front door of the airport. Going cargo they're tagged to go straight to the quarantine facility. Besides Hawaii there are a few other countries that have the same requirements. England is the first that comes to mind. With some there are ways to get around the quarantine requirement but it's nearly impossible to get around the cargo thing. Here's a good link for Q & A from Hawaii's Department of Agriculture that might help you out. They're the ones that handle bringing pets into the state. Lots of good info.
