I take Pnut everywhere I can. If I am told to leave or if i see a sign I respect it. CVS/Walgreens doesn't " allow" dogs in there, but when I take Pnut in there all they want to do is pet him. They have never told me to leave but if they did I would respect them.

This world is crazy enough. We have to at least have respect for people and bussinesses.

I feel really really bad if there is someone who cannot have a child and chose to have dogs rather than adopt human children, yes dogs are our family and we love them but as a soon to be mother I now understand that there is a HUGE difference between an animal and a human being.

As for entitlement attitude I totally agree. If the store says NO DOGS or you are told to take the dog outside then LISTEN don't back talk and mouth off. It's their rules and policies. You wouldn't ask to break the law for a child so why break the rules of the store for a DOG???

Take em' everywhere you can but leave em' at home with a pet sitter or another puppy friend when you know that you can't take them into a store.:thumbdown

Just because a person does not feel as you do, does not IMO make them crazy. I know quite a few people who have chosen to have dogs over children and I believe that they are perfectly sane individuals. I don't for one minute feel sorry for them. That is their choice! :)

I hope that your new feelings do not make you the next "rehomer". :(

I do agree that dogs should not be taken where they are not allowed; but I will go out on a limb here and say that I have seen dogs behave better than many children in stores. It always astounds me to see the things that parents allow their children to do in public. Joann's used to allow dogs...they now have a policy that does not allow them. I do respect it and leave mine at home; but it always bothers me to see children running amock and knocking fabric off of the shelves...yes, I have seen it happen. I guess it is not politically correct to ban children.

I have seen signs that say children under 15 not allowed inside without a parent....

Yep...I have seen them in convenience stores. Sometimes the parents should not be allowed in either. :p

Princess10 07-08-2011 08:51 PM

I've just been skimming the last few pages, so if I repeat anything, sorry. I wanted to weigh in.

I took Princess into one store "illegally" as a tiny, tiny pup, other than that she only goes to the places with obvious allowance...petco, petsmart, PSP, vet, parks.

Once DD & I were out & decided to rent a movie so I was going to wait in the car while she ran in. I decided to ask them if I could bring her in & keep her in my hoodie & they said yes. Even though it was pretty dead in there I was so embarrassed! I did not like people looking at me & I was afraid people would think I was on a high horse.

So I decided not to do it again. Some people are ok with that, but I'm pretty shy sometimes so that's probably why I wont do it again.

As for others bringing their dogs in I can completely understand why they'd want to & why a biz would not.

As a general rule of thumb if it's not a place geared solely at pets I assume she's not allowed. I think if you build a relationship, so to speak, with a biz & they allow it it should be considered a specific thing with that biz. If they let you, great and if not take your pup out. That's just me & how I'd deal with it.:)

That was quite uncalled for and hurt my feelings a lot. You know that I am the furthest thing from someone who will toss out their dogs to make room for their children. I was simply stating that trying to pass a dog off as equal to a child is crazy and i believe that it is. Dogs are wonderful members of our families but they are not equal to a human child. The bond a mother has with a baby will never be the same thing as the bond between a puppy or dog and human momma. It's not the same thing. yes we love them deeply on a level some people never love anyone or anything but they are still an animal with animal instincts and not a human child carried inside us for 9 months and then birthed into the world as a creation of your own self. it's totally a different thing.

RachelandSadie 07-08-2011 09:13 PM

btw i too have taken my pup into a store in a kwigy-bo bag many times. the difference is IF i were told to take her back outside by a store clerk i would not be rude to the store clerk for doing her job but say ooops sorry thank you and leave with my dog.

Come to FtW we have a few to spare. By the way according to BB corp. The dog is allowed in the store as long as it stays in your arms.

Happy Hr is around 5 tomarrow.

So if you don't carry a child for 9 months and birth that child from your body, then you don't love that child as much as one you did carry and birth?

I'm calling BS. Adoptive parents feel just as deeply for their adopted kids as they do for biological ones. Some moms even induce lactation and breastfeed to increase the bonding experience. And I will guarantee you that my friend Linda loves her daughter with every fiber and ounce of her body. She didn't carry that child-I did. And guess what? I carried a baby and birthed it from my body and feel no emotional attachment to it at all. Does that make me cold and heartless? I enjoyed it so much i did it again with twins!
Some of your comments are not only uncalled for but completely ludicrous and you struck a few nerves.
You aren't seeming to understand that there are people out there who don't want kids, can't have kids, had kids that are now grown and these animals are a replacement. It may be crazy to you but until you've walked a mile in their shoes......

Lol I used to hang out at the white elephant saloon.

We had a good experience in padre with Allie. She was in her stroller and we got up to the door and there was a no dogs sign. I was going to go back to the car and let the kids shop but my son went and found a manager and explained that she was in a stroller, she wouldn't be walking around on the floor or on a leash, would it be okay and the manager said yes. I told the kids if she barked I would leave, but she was fine and no one even really noticed my stroller had a dog in it I stead of a baby. If the manager had said no, I would have gone to the car and waited.
