I agree that the life jackets are very thin. My two weight 5 and 6 pounds. Its hard to tell if the life jacket actually helps or not. I may do a little experimentation with some five pound objects lying around and see what happens when they are wrapped in the jacket. | Other videos came up of Yorkies swimming without life jackets, after watching some of those, I can see where on your video the life jackets do keep the dogs a bit higher up in the water.
Seems like all the straps need to be snug, like when using a collar (the 2 finger rule). If too loose, they may get a foot tangled in the straps, or may be choked when lifted by the jacket out of the water. And these Life Jackets are a bit short, which I don't think is a problem, but the vests should be positioned more forward on the dogs, as it's their heads that need to be kept out of the water and not so much their butts. Saw some today online that are worn just around the shoulders, so I'm inclined to see these as more vest than jacket.
Lol! I'll have to get my camera working... Peek has been swimming with a life jacket many times... he's to the point where he knows he doesn't have to swim to stay afloat with one on.... |
