PS..I have a small girl who is not a good candidate for surgery...so my vet suggested a specialist...I think your vet should have called you and not started the operation to being with... |

Why do they want to put them out to clean teeth? Or is that only if one needs pulled? |
This just breaks my heart. I hope your baby heals quickly, I hate to think of her hurting. Words just fail me. |

I was just wondering if you paid with a credit card. Is there any way you can contact the bank and complain or reverse the charges? |
WOW I am in disbelief. How could anyone in the right mind think that would be acceptable? Your poor baby...how is she doing?? Seems like you handled it well...I would probably have to have df come bail me out of jail if someone had done that to my baby...by all means take action against them. You are NOT wrong! |

My high risk dog underwent a dental in a specialty hospital with an anesthesiologist on site who consulted to create her protocol. There were no problems at all and it turns out the protocol they used was the same many vets use for small toy dogs for dentals (induction with propofol and maintenance with isoflurane). |

I would not elect to have a dental without anthesthia...but I know several pet owners who prefer it...and I guess there are cases where it is too risky... IMO the old way is not the best way... |
I am sitting here with tears in my eyes but also furious at the same time. I do wish the best of luck though. I don't understand how a person could do that when she KNEW she wasn't fully under. Like honestly, imagine having a surgery when you can feel everything.(well I guess many people don't get put under for a c section, but that's different.) It's just un-acceptable:/ |
Ladyjane, I live in a town of 400 people, so the one good pat about that is the vet is usually quite easy to get into. That is about the only thing good about living in such a small place. he did not just have a dental she also had a spay. Yes the vet yesterday did send her home with meds, they just were not controling the pain for her. She just had a nap and is now wandering the dining room beside me. he still won't eat or drink so tonight I am going to try to tempt her with some chicken and rice. |

The pic does not show the extent of the bruising |
That's great to live in such a small town and have an emergency vet! :) Glad she took a nap. Thank goodness she is pain free now. |
Was this the same dr that performed the surgery (or the same clinic)? The incision is a little red. The pic is a little hard to see (better than a lot of the pics I take and post, though). Is there a little wound dehiscense (sp) in the middle of the incision - kind of looks like wound is separating a little in the middle on the pic? If that is, I would definitely watch closely. The redness might just be bc of how soon post surgery, but I would watch that middle if it is starting to separate - should not happen and is a problem if it does. It might just be the way the pic looks to my middle-aged eyes. |
