Senior Yorkie Talker | coat troubles I took Bentley to be groomed and although its okay it bothers me bc he doesn't look like the first time I had him in a yorkie cut. For some reason he just looks such a mess all the time instead of a well groomed dog. I told them I didn't want him too short and the woman got mad bc she didn't want to hand cut him all over. She wanted to buzz him and I said heck no. Then I told her I still wanted him to have a topknot. So, what she basically did was cut his "skirt" up short and left his head the traditional yorkie style. When I took him to another place that I had liked they had cut his hair in little layers all over for the puppy cut. And they had trimmed his beard up and left his topknot but shorter. The only reason I don't go there now is bc they cut his bangs once after I had said not to. Anyways. I guess I will go back there bc I'm not pleased with the way he has been cut this time. I would love to grow him out but its 105 degrees here in La and his coat is rather thick and cottony. Not to mention that just like with MY hair, when I try to grow it out I start to get frustrated and end up cutting it when it gets to that point where it just looks messy. I know I'm just rambling but lately I have been having serious problems with his hair. We are going back to Ca in about 2 weeks and id love to grow it back out. Any suggestions on how to help him grow out gracefully? Or how to even grow out a somewhat cottony coat? Its not reallly cottony. Its a mixture. His hair is still black and tan at a year old. He just looks so disheveled right now. I love him so so much but id be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of those that have yorkies with silky silver long flowing hair. Also, I took a picture last night of Bentley (mine) and my friends (Tobi). Bentley had red eyes and Tobi had green. Isn't it red that typically means cotton coat? |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Well, I think I have decided to grow him out. I've seen some beautiful cotton coated yorkies on YT in full coat. And suggestions on how to grow out a cotton coat well would be greatly appreciated. I tried to find other threads on this and can't seem to find any. I'm sure I'm just missing them. It seems like it would be a common question. Thanks in advance. Can't wait to start growing him out. He's my little love. |

| He is pretty. I have a girl with a cottony coat and I use the Iv San Bernard Pek on her and her hair is so silky and shiny. It makes us want to brush it all the time.
