| Is it ok to take Willow out to my backyard? Willow is 15 weeks old but doesn't have all of her puppy shots. I was wondering if it was ok for me to take her outside to my cemented backyard on a leash. It is fenced and the only dogs that go out there are my Chihuahua and Layla. They both have all their shots. Cats and birds and the occasional possum are the only ones other than the dogs to bring walk around my back yard. So I don't know if they could transfer harmful diseases or viruses to Willow. It's so beautiful out I would like to bring her outside for a little while!

| She doesn't have heartworm medicine yet and its summer I bet there are mosquitos so maybe I shouldn't.

| Yeah, it's fine. Always a bit of risk when they are pups, but most are taken to go potty anyway. No parks or places where other dogs gather...

| Why isn't she on heartworm prevention? Mine went on as young puppies. I also let mine in the yard at that age.

| She can still go out. Could go pick some up though. It's "retroactive". It's not really a preventative, but a "cure". Just get some in her soon.

| For some reason I thought she was too young to give it to her. I have some ready though. I suppose I will just give her her first dose today?

| The minimum weight and age is usually in the directions. If the vet gave it, then it's okay. Yes, you should start it.
