| collar-- yes or no? My breeder said to not bother with a collar. We plan on using a harness anyway for walking. What are your opinions? who uses a collar and who doesn't...tx |

| I have collars but I dont use them. I use harnesses they are safer and dont put pressure on yorkies necks.

| I always use a harness when I take them for walks. Collars can be dangerous to the little guys.

| Harness. One hard jolt when they are wearing a collar might be the one that damages or causes their trachea to collapse. Then it is too late.

| I use a martigale and a hatli on mine. A harness does not give enough control and a collar can cause throat issuses. Mine does where a collar but just for the tags. |

| I really agonized about this b/c I knew collars were a no no for Yorkies. I use a step in harness for Shelby. It has her ID on it and she wears it most of the time. I take it off when I put her in her expen and she is home alone. She is also microchipped now. Some people use a quick release cat collar that has a place to put ID. |

| I will never use a collar becuase of what happened to my Blu(RIP). It is just safe to not have anything on them unless you are walking them. IMO

| yorkie are so prone to collapsed tracheas; don't use collars! i bought a walmart harness for 4 dollars and has done well for my lulu ever since. collars are too dangerous; they have such little necks. |

| Around the house Teddy goes naked. He does own a collar which his tags are attached to so he does wear it if we go outdoors. But usually if we go for walks and we use the leash he wears a harness.
