| When puppies leave Is there anyone who knows if there is some kind of a form that I can use to have a spay/neuter contract for when the pups go to their new homes? also, I want it in writing that if for any reason the new owners can no longer care for their pup that they must call me to see if I want it back first. I do not want these babies ending up in a shelter or byb/puppymill. If anyone can help I would appreciate it

| That would be part of your contract. I would put this in the breeder section so hopefully other breeders can share what they put in their contracts. Contracts are good because they are legally binding

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Just google it and all kinds of ideas of how people write it up. I do this and also put in my health guarantee that if they ever surrender the pup it can not be placed in a shelter or pound. And they must contact me. Good luck

YT 1000 Club Member | I'm probably going to get some flack over this, but... What you guys are saying, sounds real good, except... That when that animal is paid for, the custody and control is rendered over to the new owner, anything past that is unenforceable. The only way for YOU to maintain any control, is to have a financial interest in the product, via a payment schedule for it. THEN you can have some say about it. You may never know, and they don't have to tell you... if it's been altered, or where it's at, or it's condition. You simply have sold the animal.

| No a contract is enforcable in court. She could go into court and have the judge order the pup back in her custody. All reputable breeders have contracts like this for that reason. One of the things you do is not give them their papers untill they show proof that the dog has been altered. That is one way to keep track if they have did it or not

| I didn't think the puppies were your's??? I know you said you were taking care of some, because the breeder was rather shady and didn't give them good care. so, I guess now your the breeder?

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Very true but if you keep in contact with the people I send birthday wishes and try very hard to keep up with the pups.. After they leave my home. Meeting the people before they buy and asking a million questions. Made me feel comfortable before they leave my home. Also advertise pet homes only... And sell locally

| All of my puppies went to family and friends, I just want to be sure that they all do the right thing by the animals. Some of them looked at me as if I was crazy to have a contract but thats just to bad. I became very attached to these babies and I want them to have the best of everything.

If someone is determined to breed the dog they buy they will, papers or no papers. It's all a nice thought, but that's all it adds up to. Contracts such as these are false security. However, you're more likely to win if you're a big time breeder under the pretense of ruining the kennel's name and dog's reputation in a breach of contract. But if you're a small time breeder the best you might get from a lawsuit is some satisfaction. I also request they return the dog to me -- when I explain it to them I tell them how it's a benefit to them - should they need to "unload" the dog right away (due to sickness/move/what-have-you) they know they can bring back to me rather than waste time trying to find it a home...they relate better when it's to their benefit. People are very self-serving I've found and if they are of the mindset that they'd dump a dog turning the conversation toward their benefit might protect the puppy in the end. What else can a person do? I also tell them I wouldn't hold up them giving it to someone else but I'd like to meet the other person first, etc. In the end there's no way I could "make" them do anything --- contract or not.

| Lol..no they arent "mine", however this was a stipulation I told the owner if I kept the litter here and she agreed... but in respnose to the OP's question...I really didnt want to go in to great details about "my" litter and why I have them here...just trying to answer her question!

| This is how my breeder did it, I didn't get my papers until I gave the proof of neuter. It also has a clause that should we not be able to keep the pup, she'll take it and rehome it for a fee, and we only get any value above said fee, if there is any.
