Well my boyfriend often calls me 'ridiculous' because I would have a million animals if I could - I already have geckos, a cat, 3 dogs and a horse. He wasn't really fond of the idea of me getting little dogs as he is a big dog person (he said he wouldn't like them) but now he LOVES my little dogs. It's so funny to watch him talk baby talk to them and ooooh and ahhh over them when I dress them up in new outfits - he would die if his friends knew about this! |
OMG! That sounds EXACTLY like my life!!! My first husband loved animals but hated me and now my second husband HATES animals and loves me... Not usre which one I like best....I could go on for hours about this. I went for a long time without a dog because he hates them and then I started doing rescue and he was ok with that since they weren't staying and now I have finally said It's gonna be my way and that is it!! Now I am bringing home my second Yorkie tomorrow.... I even bought Tucker and UT Vols sweater since my husband bleeds orange and that didn't matter... I give up!!!! Not everything can be perfect!!!! |

Sounds exactly like my household. My husband is just as crazy over our two as I am. |

My Hubby is just as crazy over my Babies as I am. |
My husband 'says' he likes animals. He doesn't. I feel like he tolerates Macie b/c I fawn all over her. He also want a baby and when I knows I'm looking he'll show more affection to her, turn her over and hold her like a baby....trying to soften me up! |
I had a boyfriend like that once.. I traded him in for a better model! :grin2:  One who LOVES all my babies just as much as I do! But even he gets confused sometimes by all the excess money I spend on clothes, toys etc to spoil Harley so much! :p My dad is the person who pretends to be irritated and uninterested when a new pet is brought in the house but within days we catch him in the living room around midnight cuddling with them! hehe BUSTED! :animal36 |
I'd never date a man who didn't love my dog or any animal as much as he loved me :) |

Update Update..........Well, my little furball almost cost me my marriage. I brought him home against my husband's will and the s*#t hit the fan. I might have salvaged the most of it but we (furball and I)tiptoe around. I think he will calm down eventually but not sure if the love will ever be there for my new addition. I won't let him sleep in bed with me because that is where our (ok, more like his) cat sleeps and can't tread on that territory. Plus the middle of the night accident is a good deterrent also. But he has been whining quite loudly once he wakes up and goes outside. He is staying in his crate and the noise seems to echo off those little walls at 4 in the morning. We have had some "conversations" in the early hours of morning. I hope the whining will all end soon and life can resume. Like having a newborn all over again. And to thank I did this last year at the same time with my Aussie and it was wild enough but unfortunately he didn't give this new baby a decent run for his money. Perseverance MUST come in small packages. |
My husband told me absolutely no more dogs when my Peke died. I said the hell with you, and bought Snoodles. The first day, he would not even look at her, by the second day, he was petting her and loving her. Now he says it is the best dog we ever had. She is always in his lap---because he wataches T,V. ALOT! Now the birds are a different story. He hates Teka my Green Cheek Conure. Of course, that is because he bites him. I don't blame him! Ha! He tolerates my Blue Crown Conure and will talk to him when he is talking. Even has taught him a few words! Husbands! Who Knows what they are? Pat |
My husband is the oe who introduced me to yorkies. I had a maltese when we were dating and I was living with my parents. I was always a maltese kind of girl. After over two years of marriage we finally got Pepper and I want another one! |
Yorkies yes, Shelties ummmm no... My husband had animals growing up, and I had always had them when I was a kid. So when we decided to get a dog, we did a LOT of research on what would be appropriate for us. Yorkies fit the bill just fine, but we had a really hard time with the first two due to an irreputable breeder and our inexperience with the breed. Then we came across Jasper in a pet store (DUH, like that was a better breeder), but he was so dang darling that we took him, and a few months later got Angel from an incredible breeder we stumbled upon. The two of them were a wonderfully dynamic duo. Then we went to a dog show, and my husband saw a sheltie and thought that would also be a great dog for us. Right from the start I hesitated, as 3 dogs seemed a little much, but fell in love with Betsy from the day she came home. My husband, not so much. Shelties are NOT Yorkies, and the difference in personality startled and irritated my husband to no end. I was able to stand my ground for 4 long years of complaining, but eventually offered Betsy to my sister, who has had her for almost 7 years and loved every minute of it. No, Betsy did not break up my marriage, but my husband did insist that we find a different home for her and it did hurt my feelings. I got over it because my sister took her. If it had been a stranger, I am not sure how I would have been able to look kindly upon my hubby for quite a while. Funny how relationships sometimes get these unexpected bumps in the road, eh? |
