Some Hair Questions...

I've had groomers cut so much that it grew in all over again into Chanels eyes (when she was about a year old) so I had to wait for all the hair to grow back ...

I trim VERY carefully under the corner of her eyes and under the eye itself...also ...on the bridge of her nose just a little between the eyes....I don't touch any head hair ever...it's something you can keep up with yourself if you have a little Wahl trimmer and a non wiggly yorkie. Both mine let me do this to them and Cheri is under a year old and HATES being brushed...but for some reason will let me trim her....

I put an arrow there so you can see the area I keep trimmed

Mari - I did the same thing to Stewie (cut the hair by his eyes) and I wanted to grow his, too. I am kicking myself for it because it'll be shorter than the rest and too short for a topknot when the rest is long.

She is georgeous! I have kept that part trimmed on Esme too and the rest long. I can't wait until Esme's hair grows out like that!!!! Here's a picture.

I regretted it for a while too, until it started growing and it was back in her eyes again. Finally, I just gave in, took her to the groomers and had them cut it. It's been cut twice since then already. I just want her to be comfortable and happy, and having the hair in her eyes can 't be pleasant. At first I wanted her to have the traditional yorkie look, but then I decided she would look cute no matter what and Stewie will too!!!!

I take her to the groomers once a month. They shave the tips of her ears and the hair from inside her ears. I am too scared to do it myself.

Thank you for your nice comment on Chanel - Your Esme is ADORABLE ! I love her name too ...It looks like you've got her trimmed up perfectly - the hardest I think is the hair around their eyes - too much and it interferes with their topknoot, and too little.. it will go into their eyes - she looks juuuust right !

I do not allow the groomer to cut around their eyes. When it starts growing out, the hair will poke their eyes and irritate them.

Some yorkie just have thin coats. You should have noticed it when you got her. She might never have a good coat, but you never know.

Yorkies should start changing their colors around 4 months. Look close to the skin area and as they get older, you will see what color they will eventually be.

you all have beautiful pups, I don't cut the hair around the eyes mainly cuz I want it to grow out even with the rest. It takes ALOT of patients but Lexi's is starting to lay a bit...

I would leave him like he is, he is darling! I found some really small plastic bows at the dollar store that finally hold Snoodles hair. Also, you can sew a small rubber band onto a bow and use that. The bow goes down from the top on the head. You don't put it between the ears. Stays better that way, and the hair coming up from the eyes don't have to be as long.
