Should I not name her Bambi??? 4 Attachment(s) As many of you know I'm getting a beautiful new baby girl from Breny and I had picked the name Bambi for her. I wanted a B name to go with my other two yorkies, Bijou and Barley. I don't. Want Bella or Bri as those are my best friend's little girls names. Problem is everyone I tell her name to give me a look like I'm crazy and one good friend asked me why I named her that in a rather rude way and then started surfing the net to find her a different name 0.0. So my question to y'all is should I change her name and do you have any suggestions for me? Thank you for any advice and support. I'm on my phone but I'll try to attach her picture for y'all to see her. |
Well, I think the name Bambi is adorable. One of the best things about getting your own pet is being able to name it. I wouldn't worry about what other people say if you are happy with the name. :) |

She's your puppy, and you should feel comfortable to name her whatever you want!! I have two female dogs named after male family members which causes some people to pause. However, having said that...I love the names Bijou and Barley...and Bambi seems a little ordinary in comparison...but that can depend on your neighbourhood/location. Looking at some other B names I found Babe...which I thought would be pretty when said with a French accent...You might also want to wait until you have her home for a little while, and see what name "speaks" to you!! Good luck...I'm sure she'll be a great addition, no matter what you name her! |
Bambi is a cute name that I would totally use. Go with what you like, not someone else. I got a ton of slack from some people when I named Nellie, but I like it and that's all that matters...unless someone takes over her vet bills for life, in which case I might consider changing it. |
Don't worry about what others think. I received a lot of eye-rolling for choosing one of the most common dog names (Max, for short), but once people meet my dog, they tell me it fits. :p |
People name their dog what is cute or meaningful to them and seems to fit the dog. Bambi always reminds me of something young and playful, imposssibly cute and innocent. Seems to fit that little dear of yours to a "T". What a wonderful little Yorkie you are getting!!! Name her the name that satisfies you and your dog and no one else. |
Name her Bambi! I think that's a cute name but really it's only what YOU think that matters. |

If you like it go with it People don't like Moshe's name. I had one person who was offended by it and the groomer can't even pronounce it. Doesn't matter it suits him. |

I don't get why your friends asked you that??? Is something wrong w/ Bambi?? Hmmmmm...name her as you wish...she's your baby!!!:):) I did get flack for naming my black and white Biewer Reesie--everyone said he doesn't look like chocolate and his name should be Oreo (which in my opinion is kinda too typical)!!! Except, I didn't really name him after Reeses Peanut Butter Cups....it was more after one of my fav actresses Reese Witherspoon!!! He is SO STICKIN CUTE just like her:) It just happen to go well w/ Snickers as well w/ the chocolate theme!!! LOLLLL!!!!!! People call him REESES all the time....I want to say it's REESIE!!!!! WELLLLLL I think it is kind of rude for your "friends" to react like that. Bambi is a cute name, you like it, that is what counts!!!! I got a lot of "trouble" for naming Remy. Almost every name I have given a dog I have had someone question the name.. so you can't make everyone happy. Even my children's names cause some trouble.. *sigh* PS... if I ever get a black and white parti I want to name her Flower :D |
I think Bambi really is a cute name. As others have said, she is your puppy, name her what you want! It's you that's going to be saying her name over & over for many years to come. I think it's cute, & I've never met a dog named it. Congrats on your baby!:):) |
She is YOUR baby and you have every right to name her anything you want. If your friend do not like it then maybe they should get their own dogs and name them what they want. Not meaning to sound rude but seriously, I think that was very rude of them to make you think you should not name her what YOU want to name her. JMO |

I don't care what anybody thinks when I name my pets. You know how much slack I got when I named my cat Chooch? LOL BUT, my son was 3 at the time and loved trains and that's what he wanted to name him, so we did:D And ya know what, 3 yrs. later, I can't possibly imagine him with any other name - he's soooo "Chooch" lol, it just fits his personality perfectly;) People make fun of me for naming Alice after a character in Twilight, I don't care, it's MY dog and I think her name fits perfectly:D. But on the flip side, just yesterday I was told "why did you give her a "human" name?, she's so tiny she sould be called something cuter", then I told this person WHY I named her that and found out she's a Twilight fan too and then it made sense to her and she loved the name:rolleyes:. I think Bambi's a cute name, you should keep it:) |
I think you should, indeed, name her exactly what you want! It's hard to believe people don't stop to think when they say things like your friend did! I try to remember not to say anything bad about potential names...then how awkward if they do name them that! That being said...all rules are made to be broken :D, and I did tell a dear friend that she should choose Sawyer for her son instead of ALBRECHT :eek: when she was deciding between the two. She did, saving him from a lifetime of playground trouble, in my humble opinion.;) I like Becca in addiition to Bambi. Seeing Babe in writing, you wouldn't know the pronounciation, and it looks like Babe, the big blue ox. (Sorry...had to break that rule again:() |
I think Bambi is a real cute name, as a matter of fact I had a cat named Bambi who lived for almost 20 years. |

Bambi is an adorable name, just right for a sweet, adorable puppy! Just like when you name your skin kids, everyone always has an opinion, but they'll get over it once the puppy is here. She's yours- you are free to name her whatever makes you happy! :) |
