| You can try making a high pitched YIPE like one of his puppy playmates do, he should stop. If your playing and he is biting get up and walk away. Go back and play after a couple of minutes repeat until he gets the hint. The YIPE should work , he will understand he hurt you and biting is NOT fun.

| When Callie was going through her nipping puppy phase the only thing that worked for us was a squirt bottle.

| Dizzee will get riled up sometimes and a firm "no bite" followed by praise when she stops always corrects her biting....of course, my husband thinks it's "cute" and doesn't correct her if she nips him so she'll do it to him all the time but doesn't nip me or my kids.

Are you going to neuter him (if you haven't already)? I have been told the biting sometimes gets better after the procedure.

| When my puppies were teething we put some teething bones in the freezer and that seemed to sooth their gums a little bit. If they started biting we just said NO BITE and they stopped. Puppies like babies have to go through the teething stage. My God daugter used to bite also when she was a baby. On the bright side, they do outgrow it. My vet says you can spray some bitter apple on your finger and it might help. The problem was our dogs liked the taste of the bitter apple. |

| When I got my chow/akita puppy years ago I thought I would never survive the teething stage. He loved things that made noise and loved to play with plastic bags. One blew into the backyard on afternoon and I laughed so hard at how much fun he had chasing that thing around. It made for a great wrestling playmate. Anyway I stacked and rolled up a bunch of the plastic shopping bags and put them in a old clean sock, tied the end in a knot. He thought that was the best toy ever. He loved the sound it made and he would chew, bite and wrestle that thing for hours. I made several to have on hand as he destroyed them. He had one as a play toy to the end. Almost 11 years. |
