| On Easter Sunday Scooter got a hold of some choc too. One of the kids dropped it and he snatched it up. He was so sick all day yesterday, throwing up and the runs but I called the vet , she said if he isnt any better tomorrow bring him in and now this morning he was fine.

| white chocolate isn't even actually chocolate (as far as I know, there's no cocoa used to make it) so don't worry. And as far as real chocolate goes, they really do have to eat a LOT of it to have a problem, and it's usually just diarhea. It's not "poison" to them, just bad for them and can be toxic if large quantities are eaten. My sister in law's lab mix ate 4 entire chocolate bars once and he was completely fine except for some loose stool for 2 days. Relax, you're fine

| Here's a little chart I found to give you an idea about how much and what type of chocolate can cause a problem for a dog. Most of the time (but not always) if a dog eats too much of it, they will vomit it up very quickly after eating it, greatly minumizing any adverse effects. White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog. Milk chocolate: 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Approximately one pound of milk chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one-half pound for a 10-pound dog. The average chocolate bar contains 2 to 3 ounces of milk chocolate. It would take 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10 pound dog. Semi-sweet chocolate has a similar toxic level. Sweet cocoa: 0.3 ounces per pound of body weight. One-third of a pound of sweet cocoa is toxic to a 20-pound dog; 1/6 pound for a 10-pound dog. Baking chocolate: 0.1 ounce per pound body weight. Two one-ounce squares of bakers' chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one ounce for a 10-pound dog.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | White chocolate is ok. The darker the chocolate, the more potential it has for toxicity. The xanthines in it have a similiar effect as caffeine, and can cause rapid heart rates and neurological issues.

| I think Molly will be fine. White chocolate isn't really chocolate. The worst is the darker chocolates. Hope all is OK! |
