As for using a detangler, I have read that it is a good idea to use whenever you brush. I bought some from Jenny but have not had to use each time. I keep mine pretty much brushed out. Maggie doesn't mind it too much but Hot Rod is definitely a wiggler. I guess it depends on the type of coat and if it knots and mats. Good luck, Jenny the best.
