| After Vet Visit We took Roxie to the vet yesterday for her heart worm test, Bordetella shot, and Lyme vaccine. We came home, I gave her a bath, she ate her dinner and seemed OK (just a little tired). Right before bed we took her out and she pooed. Well, when I got up this morning, she had pooed again - a big poo - in the front hallway. That's not like her at all. She seems to be walking very slowly and a little hunched over. Is this normal after having those shots? Was it just too much for her? The other thing is that her weight dropped from 7.2 to 6.4 since her last visit...which was only in March when she had the bacterial infection. That seems like a big drop to me in such a short amount of time, but the vet didn't seem concerned. We have had her on weight control food for a few months because of her LP, but we hadn't seen any real results until now. The vet said she is at a good weight now...but I have no idea how to keep her there. If I change her food again, I'm sure she will gain the weight back. Suggestions?

| Was the lyme's given IM or SQ? Lethargy is normal. Walking hunched would indicate some pain. You can give Benadryl. That may not do much for the soreness though. The vet can give her something for that if you are concerned. Are her gums pink and wet?

| IM or CQ? Not sure what the means. Both the Lyme and Bordetella were injections. One was in her shoulder area, the other in her rear hindquarter.

| Oops, sorry. IM - intramuscular (in the muscle, usually towards the back of the dog). SQ - subcutaneous (just under the skin, usually around the shoulders). IM injections seem to lead to more soreness. Not surprising that she is in some pain. How is she doing now?

| She seems a lot better now. She is more energetic and playful. She is still walking a bit cautiously.

| So glad she's feeling better. Mine get their vaccines one at a time, and one month in between, and I'm starting to do Titers on my older pups. Lymes is easily treated, so we don't get that anymore, and they only get the Bordatella injectable if I need to board them. They don't get Lepto, Giardia, Dog Flu, or the one that is supposed to kill dental bacteria, bc they are too new to the marketplace and I'm not going to have my pups used as guinea pigs for vaccines. Too many problems can come of it (overvaccination).

| Yeah, we may have to board her over the summer if we go away on a trip, and we definitely have to board her in September for a few days for my brother's wedding. I did think it was a lot all at once.
