| Trash or Toilet If your furbaby has an accident in the house, do you flush it down the toilet or bag it up for disposal in the trash? Had a small debate with a friend and I want to know is it "normal" for me to opt to flush it.

| I just put it in trash bags. I really don't think it matters, it is a matter of preference. I have too many dogs to be flushing it so that is why I use trash bags.

| FLUSH! My poor garbage man has enough odors to deal with, I don't want to add more. Besides we keep our garbage cans in the attached garage. OMG! Seems to me that the sewer system was designed for accepting waste wasn't it? |

| I keep toliet paper outside and pick the poop up with that as soon as it done and I flush it. On the chance one uses the potty inside I also flush it.

I live in an apartment so it's an inconvience and slightly silly for me to bag the poo and take it to the trash everytime there is an accident. So I just told my friend they'll just have to hold it or use the dog poo toilet when they are at my house. I just wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were. I see I'm not thinking irrationally.

| Good question. 'They' tell you not to use it as fertilizer in your garden. 'They' tell you not to flush unused prescription drugs, as they have determined there are traces showing up in our tap water. Anything that gets flushed goes through the sewage treatment plant, to be filtered and cleaned and returned to the water supply. Pathogens and bacteria are not killed in composting for the garden. Due to a threat to human health, it is recommended to flush the poop where it will be treated by the treatment plants. The main goal is to keep it out of natural waterways, where it not only is a threat to humans, but to our ecosystems. So, flushing is the way to go...
